Re: moralistic complaints coming from unexpected sources, my limited experience confirms. In my ethics classes, I show a number of slightly hard-to-watch films and have never gotten complaints from older students or students who explicitly identify themselves as conservative or Christian. The most complaints I've ever gotten came from a student body that was young, tatooed, and foul-mouthed. It was a tech school for people who had lived (and were still living) some seriously hard lives. I actually saw a knife fight between two female students in the parking lot. Filthy, nasty, wretched human beings who got pregnant when they were fourteen and still brag about how they steal their best friends' recently paroled boyfriends. And every time I played Muriel's Wedding, they complained because it shows a guy's butt for two seconds. Go figure.
By the by, do you know how to turn other LJ users' names (like deadmoviestar and flintridge) into quicklinks within the body of your posts? As you're writing a post, highlight the LJ user's name, then click the little icon that shows you an image of a guy's head. (I think the name of the icon is "LJ User.") That makes a quicklink.
It also makes the other user's name stand out, which attracts the attention of that user and her/his friends. A little way I've found of generating participation.
I'll show you in my own blog what the quicklink tingie looks like.
