Need a San Fran, Sacto hook up

One of my two bands (Inigo: www.myspace.com/inigo) is playing Fresno on August 17th.  We'd love to set up a gig in Sacramento or Davis for Aug 18 and San Francisco on Aug 19...or vice versa.

Anyone have any leads?  I'm looking at you Bob and Merlin -- any advice?

I know almost nothing about Sacramento club life, but a good place to start would be with Sacramento News & Review. Fantastic arts & culture rag.

Look for venues with lettered and numbered street names. Those will be the downtown addresses. Downtown has a lot of night spots and is generally pretty hoppin' on a Saturday night.

You may want to consider Davis, too. Small college town just twenty minutes west of downtown Sacto. Lots of foot traffic and bar hopping on a Saturday night. The place you'd wanna play is:

An odd little place that, as you can see, bills itself primarily as a Czech restuarant but gets most of its business from band- and DJ-driven events.

I'm so hopelessly out of the loop on local music. You might want to comb a recent copy of the SF Bay Guardian (local weekly) for venue that looks friendly. You might actually find more (and more interesting) places to play in (the more interesting) East Bay, esp. Oakland and Berkeley.

Wish I had more -- I am old and still listen to cassettes by my pot-bellied stove.
