I'm confused about Skinheads

I was hanging at my local pub the other day when I struck up a conversation with a bald dude.  We were chatting about another nearby pub and bald dude (Chris) told me he'd been kicked out of there for fighting.  He told me he'd been sitting at the bar when a guy walked up and asked "are you a skinhead?"  Chris said "yes."  Dude from the bar rolls ( Read more... )

I would think that, by now, the term "skinhead" is firmly affixed to the neo-Nazi movement and to identify yourself as such is a bad idea if you do not espouse the associated dogma and beliefs. He should have said "no, I am not". Or, "I am a baldhead"

Exactly...which leads me to believe that there is some new faction of skinhead-ism that identifies itself via fashion and music but without the neo-Nazi ideology. If so, man have those guys got an uphill PR war ahead of them.

Just got this from a friend who had a run in with local skins recently. I posed the same question to him. His response:

There is a group of anti nazi skins called Sharpies which stands for Skin Heads Against Racial Predudice... and so on,but the mentality is still there.
