What happens if your partner has this mindset of being ok in an open r'ship but you are not. But he doesn't do it and it is committed that it will not happen while in this rship? Is this considered ok? Or is his mentality not right at all?

I think i agree with takkyboi.

like some parents think it is ok for youngster to be gay as long as their children are not gay.

but i guess in the end, it is how much trust he can gain from you that matters. And of course how much trust you willing to give him that matters.

uhmmm i think ideally that he should believe in the same things as u. I guess even if there is dissonance in beliefs, he will respect u and not do things to hurt u if he loves u. So that is a level of comfort.
