Any ideas on what kind of car? Like sporty, hybrid, sedan, suv (gas guzzler)... Presumably it will be mostly used for commuting, your current car has a lot of space to haul stuff if you need, but I dont know how often you fill it up...
Are you looking at used or new? Personally I recommend used just cause of the purchase price, and how quickly cars depreciate. I got my old Camry in 2001 (it was a 99) for 10,000 and got paid insurance of almost 7,000 for it in 2007 meaning Toyotas keep their value nicely...
I've always had success with Toyota cars and I've had no complaints with my Echo. Sadly, they no longer make it. I've heard good things about Honda and I know GM and Ford have made advances in terms of reliability and quality. Do you even know what kind of car you are looking for (compact, station-wagon, truck, van)?
