Congress, bah! Bunch of out of work astronauts and C-list actors

So I watched most of the GOP deabtes. It was pretty mind numbing. There was a lot of monotous repetition. ISLAMIC JIHAD ISLAMIC JIHAD ISLAMIC JIHAD. RONALD REAGAN RONALD REGAN RONALD REAGAN. It was getting pretty unbearable towards the end. Maybe if the abortion topic was a pet issue of mine, I'd be a little more interested in large amount of ( Read more... )

I'm not really complaining about the abortion talk. I just noted that it's not a particular issue of interest for me and thus it bored me.

I agree on the Ron Paul gaffe. A simple no, i don't think we should change the constitution for petty political reasons, would have been a better answer for him.

I do agree that there is some value in irrelevant questions in regard to finding out how someone repsonds, but it was way too execessive last night. One or 2 questions like that, fine. But 7-8 questions like that when you've got only 90 minutes and have to make time for 10 people to speak is a bit on the ludicrous side. Also a lot of the questions seemed to try and put a candidate in a lose-lose situation with his answer, which was a tad irritating.

With all the talk about problems with earmarks I'm very dissapointed the proposed Read the Bill Act was never brought up. I know Ron Paul supports it and was dissapointed he didn't bring it up with all the talk about pork and such.

I confess, I was with a group of people drinking every time we heard a Reagan plug or some rote buzzphrase, so I was pretty tanked after about 20 minutes. I did see enough to know that a) Chris Matthews should never be allowed within fifty yards of a debate site EVER AGAIN, b) there really wasn't all that much substantial about it, and I agree that the abortion talk bored me since I don't care, c) only Romney failed to look like he was not about to get eaten by a pack of rabid badgers.

You gotta love Ron Paul's gold standard thing though. Who else has the chutzpah to resurrect a political issue from the 1890s?

Jeff, mind reiterating point C? You double-negatived it so it sounds like an insult to Romney. Again, I didn't see the debates but that's the opposite of what I've heard about his performance.

All the candidates but Romney looked frightened out of their gourd, and were simply unable to articulate their points in a clear, cohesive fashion.
