Oh sssshhh you I wasn't asking you though I know there are people that know this sort of stuff come read this, but either 1) They all went on holiday and left me here to drown in it alone, or 2) they are just sitting on the outskirts, and just know I'm going to do it all myself and my way anyway, then post my stupidity up here, then we can all sit round and laugh for years to come :S
ok - when you say server is it a virtual server thats hosted elsewhere or are you hosting it yourself?
Erm... im not big on server stuff - I know that ive set up a local server running Apache with perl and php and mysql etc. If you know anything about Linux you could try LAMP http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2001/01/25/lamp.html
Or theres always the dreaded windows servers... ugh!
nah, not virtual, these damned things are HP netserver LC3's or so it says on the case, both running duel pII 400's, only small 18Gb SCSSI's but I'm not gonna fill them for a while
( ... )
Woo hoo, Got one of them up and running, I remembered apache wasn't that hard if instructions were read. The other is refusing to see it's second chip *Grumbles* Security? hmm well 2 of the smaller drives (still huge compared to the free online webspace) have write protect jumpers, so that will make for an easy run at things, I'll add a couple of switches to the front of their carriers, hook the switches up instead of jumpers, now it's just banning seriously heavy users i gotta get sorted, any ideas anyone?
