I think it's funny when people say porn is demeaning to women because a.) there are men in porn as well and b.) pornography is the only industry in which women make more than men, on average.

I actually got really mad at Starhawk while reading The Spiral Dance, because of her description of a protest in which she screamed about regaining womens' sexuality, getting rid of the 'either virgin or whore' concept, and all this business about sex being sacred, and at the same time tearing up pornography.

I was actually disturbed by Starhawk's protest as well. I can understand the attitude that porn is demeaning to the sacredness of sexuality, especially when its violent and abusive. Sure men are in porn, but how many times have you seen a porn in which a man is being pushed down and taken advantage of? Statistically, porn is said to increase the number of acts of violence against women, be it emotional, physical or sexual violence
