So the latest rumor in my extended family is that I am actually gay. My mother informed me ever so cheerfully that she would be perfectly happy with that. I politely informed her that I am, in fact, not, but thanked her for asking.

Ugh, I can't deal with this Homecoming shit right now. Instead, I'm going to watch HHGG. Again.

at least your mother was okay with that. my mom told me freshman year that i wasn't allowed to be a lesbian, just out of the blue. and then last week i got all pissed off for no reason and told her i would be a lesbian if i damn well wanted to, and wear my make-up the way i pleased. i'm pretty sure she's pretending i didn't tell her that.
