I discovered it in my early 20s, someone recommended the first two books somewhere, and the first one sucked me in. I've never been a hard-core fan but I have loved every book and every movie. PoA is my favourite of the series, AND my favourite of the movies, as well as OotP. I love the PoA movie, it's so damned dark. I love that shit.
Yeah, I definitely think POA is my favourite of the books. And idk I was probably being too harsh on the film; it's been years since I've seen it properly.
LOL DANRAD WAS SOOOO CUTE. But my crush on him didn't start until POA, I was like "ew Harry" when the first film came out.
I love the Marauders backstory too! I still haven't read the Shoebox Project but I really want to because I just love everything to do with the Marauders, even if it is a Sirius/Remus epic love story (I never got behind that) and blah blah blah. I don't think a prequel FILM should exist but a prequel miniseries or TV series would work so well imho.
I was actually one of those who resisted the phenomenon with all their might. I didn't want to hear a word about it and scoffed at all the merchandise. Suffice to say, when I was about 16 I gave up. :p
I've always stayed out of the fandom because I found it rather scary. :D My sister was a BNF in my country's main HP web community, so I heard a lot of crazy stuff. I did take part in a humorous HP LARP once, though. I played Luna (even though I'm a green-eyed brunette :p), it was fun.
My favourite character is undoubtedly Remus Lupin. I do have a werewolf bias, but he's such a great character. In fact I've always been much more interested in the previous generation and all the adult characters in general than in the trio etc. And I actually kinda semi-seriously shipped Remus/Tonks even before they became canon. :D My favourite books are probably Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix.
I've never been heavily involved in the fandom. I wrote some really poor fanfic when I was about 11 or 12 and had no idea what I was doing but apart from thaaaat? Nope. What is a BNF?
I have mixed feelings re: trio vs Marauders. I love the trio with all my might, but the Marauders' history is so much more complex and there is soooo much more to explore omg.
Heh, I've clearly spent way too much time reading fandomsecrets. BNF means Big Name Fan. You know, those people in every community whom everyone recognizes.
Quickly (because dammit woman, I am on hiatus and not meant to be here but you mane a HP post and such is life) I LOVE;
Ron/Hermione - OTP Forever and ever. Harry/Ginny - Stealth Team! Is all I have to say, they are soo epic and perfect :) And Harry is my favourite tooo! Though admittedly I do have this never ending soft spot for Remus Lupin and everything he chooses to be ♥
RON/HERMIONE - YES. HARRY/GINNY - YES TO THE MAX. Ugh, I am re-reading DH at the moment and it is basically like reading it for the first time since all I remember is who lived and who died, and anyway there was this whole thing where Ginny tried to steal Godric Gryffindor's along with Neville and Luna and how she's rallying students to reform Dumbledore's Army and I was like, OMG GINNY IS OSM, WHY DO MORE NOT SEE THIS? And duh, Harry is so predictable, he likes a girl with a bit of fire in her, etc, etc.
A lot of Harry and Remus love up in hurr, keep it up.
