Ugh...I feel queasy

So, I joined a sorority my first year of college, pretty much just for that whole "new experiences" thing. I don't regret joining and meeting the people I did, but there are only a few girls from it that I would consider my "friends". Ugh. No kidding. Just because you have met someone and talked to them for five minutes about how much you liked their shirt or how nice the weather was or whatever does NOT make them your best friend. Or even necessarily a friend at all. There's a word we have for that, and it's called acquaintance. Sheesh.
I wonder why girls have a tendency to do that. I mean, I might call someone my "new friend" if, say, I met them at Detour and hung out with them for the WHOLE WEEKEND, since at least 48 hours of near-constant contact helps you get to know someone, but really, even that's a stretch. It's just girlish squealing which I put along the same lines as fangirling.

I also forgot to mention that it's true-- most of them will probably not talk to or possibly even remember each other as soon as next year, provided one of the parties doesn't stay in the sorority.

I have high school friends that do status updates like that. And I want to keep sorta vaguely in touch with them so I don't want to de-friend them, but I know you pain.
