Been awhile since in our house, but it's pretty surprising how fast they are.

I always have wondered what happened to the coffee can full of wild mice I let go in the commons area of the dormatory. You should have seen the little guys trying to run on the slick tile. It was actually a horrible sight that seemed like a good idea at the time.

Being a stinking hippy Buddhist who tries not to kill critters, I got a "tip trap" for mice in my co-op unit that seemed to have a minor infestation, rather than letting the cats murder the little buggers.

Me, I think they're cute, but I'd be scared to touch them as they probably bite like fuckers if they think they're trapped. Anyway, I would release them outside, where they would probably promptly find another house to bother, or come right back to mine, or just get murdered by some capable outside predator. (We had a pair of red-tail hawks in the neighbourhood. Very cool animals.)

Of course, when the wee ants got bad enough, I calculatedly genocided the whole colony (as the ant-killer goop promised).

And yeah, those guys can move.
