I reluctantly bought a Nook a couple of years ago. At first I didn't like it--no book smell, no getting lost in the literal page. Instead there was this bright, white-colored screen(which I learned to adjust). But now I LOVE IT! I can still read when hubby is asleep, without worrying about him wanting the lamps off; I can sample a gazillion books before I pay hard earned money for something that only seemed good or had an interesting front cover but no substance; it holds all my favorite magazines (no more stacks upon stacks upon stacks collecting dust spiders); and I can do SO much more with it besides reading, like games, music, etc. You should try one. They're less expensive now than they were when I bought mine. I won a writing contest, though; so that was the only way I could afford it back then.
it could become a christmas present in the future i guess. what type of gift cards can you use to purchase books? i'm not exactly set up for online purchases so it's either gift cards or money cards...
You'll need at least one of those Visa gift cards to get started. Even if you don't use it much, you'll need it to set up. After that, you can use a Nook gift card or one from Barnes & Noble. Best wishes :-)
If I'd known you wanted one, I'd have bought you one when I had the money last week. I just got Gimli, our neighbour, a mutual friend of ours back in Spokane, and shannon_elaine each one. I did find some for fairly decent prices on Amazon. The price I paid for each of the four I bought was something like $89. But you can get a gently used one for under $30. Check these out, they vary in price.
