So glad you picked up on the flower color analogy! I thought it was the most brilliant thing I ever came up with, and probably my favorite part of this fic. It's like you said, Hotaru is the sort of person who would be passed over for the more usual "pinks," "yellows," and "whites" (though I didn't make the connection to Minako, Chibi-Usa, and Usagi til you said that). She stands out but is such an oddity that it takes a specific person to recognize her beauty and value (*cough cough* Sephirtoh *cough*). Also did you pick up on the fact that the stem is broken, but the flower is still intact? That was supposed to be part of the analogy too. Part of Hotaru is broken but the most important part of her is still unblemished, unharmed, etc. I'd like to think this could tie with a body/soul analogy ( ... )
