i agree it's a good thing, but i have a slight confusion with this sort of vegetarianism.

now dont get me wrong, i am not going to convert you, but enzymes can be produced in a factory and as far as i know the only harm that comes to the animal would be the removal of a few cells (only 1 is needed but more are used to increase the chance of success). and it's only an animal enzyme because it is naturaly produced inside an animal.
Eating meat can be seen as wrong as it would have caused some sort of pain upon the animal, but what if every care had been made to make sure the production of this enzyme is safe and unhamrful?

only asking questions, not attacking.

in order to get the rennet, the calf has to have its stomach cut open and frozen. the rest of the calf is then sold as veal meat (as rennet is only present calves that are only a few days old. so it will never have had any real sunlight)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rennet
basically, the calves are killed to get the enzyme. and using rennet is supporting the horrific veal industry

i am suprised they have to kill for the enzyme. sarah, you should know the process i'm talkign about, replacing the genes in bacteria to produce this specific enzym then either batch or continuous production (or whatever it's called) to have a fake version of it. unless the enzym is too complex, but i didnt think it would be a problem. plus wikipedia is never that great a source sorry.

i'll have a look into it, but either way if you use any animal stuff in your product you'll create some sort of media frenzy. so why i'm bothering i dont know.

to any vegetarians reading this, what would your opinion be on an animal product that was created in a lab artificialy (such as an enzyme)?
