I'm sitting here in the computer lab of the Science Center waiting for my next class to start (it starts at 3:30) and I got bored, so I decided that I would do a short little update

1) As far as grad school goes, you should go to wherever they have a good program for you. If your one school has a good program, then that's all that matters, and it will probably shut up all your nay-sayers.
2) a year?! holy crap!
3) I'm glad to hear the GRE went well for you. Allison's taking it right now and has been slightly freaking out about it.
4) congrats on your brother and your new sister-in-law.
5) yes. most definitely. Asking someone to marry you should be the ultimate surprise. If other people don't like that, that's their thing. But I'm definitely gonna surprise her.
6) As someone who's equally burdened w/ too much free time, my suggestion would be to read a good book or series. Or rent TV on DVD series of shows that you've always wanted to get into, but never did. For books, there's always rereading Harry Potter, or (one of my favorites) the Inheritance Trilogy. For DVDs, there's 24, My Name Is Earl, Firefly, Seinfeld... and don't you have a huge list of movies that you've never seen?
I've been saying "shiny" for about 2 years now. I am in no way referring to Firefly... especially because I've never seen it. Is it used in Firefly? If so, it's probably completely different from when my friends and I use it... of course, I can't know that for sure... but I'm pretty sure that none of us have seen it.
interesting... well, the person who responded first here clearly has from his suggestion for what you should watch. Ask your friends, I'd bet there's a good chance it's from Firefly...
