"And forever, brother, hail and farewell."
The post is a memoriam for my best friend, by angel given solace..my doggie. who went to sleep at aprox 11:01am on the 2nd of March 2019. 8 years after coming into my life as a constant companion.
so. In memoriam
Minnie Murdoch Mouse
2005-2019
Ave Atqua Vale Squishie .
My best friend was a Patterdale pure breed. who followed a friend home from school one day and became part of the extended family, before finally coming to live with me around 2011 just after I finished Uni, I'd not had a dog since I was 15 and Max had passed over, so I didn't have the faintest what to do, but she didn't care, she was only interested in love and snuggles, jumped on the couch and got behind my legs to sleep until we had to get rid of the 3 seater and we couldn't sit together anymore. so she'd jumped on the couch alone and i took to sitting beside her on the floor, she really loved jumping into my 'dads chair' this old black leather reclainer in the coner of the dining room, because she'd sink into it, and apparently, to a patterdale, leather is comfy.
My first memory of Minnie is going to my friends house, the second she knew there was company she'd go mad..and 9/10 times she'd wee on something lol. she came to live with us when Lucy decided her traveling meant she couldn't look after a dog, and Julie who'd looked after her before was still at Uni, didn't mean they didn't care, they still asked and Julia visited, and I sent pics.
she was totally black when she was young, save for one little white toe, she had a little docked tail, we never knew how it had happened but it added to her mystique and cuteness.
she wasn't noisy inside, unless you were playing, or had food, she loved fish and chips from Ackworth as much as I do...she just loved food tbh, but wasn't a fan of cellery (my mum loves cellery)
She liked Salmon, cheese, banannas, melon, chicken, dads spaggetti, ramen. liked Dog Ice cream, but didn't have it much
She hated dog food but ate it if she had no choice. didn't reckon much to Doggie chocolate.
I found out early on that she loved Murdoch Mysteries, especially Murdoch himself, she'd go up to the tv and just look at him, so when it came to registering her as ours I begged my mam to let me add Murdoch to her name, but mam put her on record as "minnie hyman." we ignored it,
She answered to Minne, murdoch, Min, mousey, squishy, squashy, little rat, hell hound (even answered when a movie charectar said it once,) Baby, and this funny whistle only my dad seemed able to do.
She bloody hated Lee Evans, especially when he made me laugh so much I almost stopped breathing and she would give me these looks, oh they'd melt steel those looks from such a cute face,
She loved her yellow and black knotted tuggie, but didn't fetch or catch, she was too proud of that.
She loved my aunty Pat because when she came she always brought treats for no one but her.
She barked at every dog she met, not meanly just..she didn't like any cainine company but her own. though her bark was less sharp around other Patterdales.
She liked walks in Perston and Queens Park, despite the nosey squirrels and dopey ducks.
She loved walks with my dad, early in a morning, to the pit park, the normal park, or Valley Gardens.
She enjoyed walks round town, scaring local pidgeons, and on wensdays wrapping her lead around the legs of market stalls, unsuprising, her fave victim was the dog treat stall but she did it to others too.
She liked it when we had visitors, Aunty Cynth, Heather and Jon especially as they came over "for her." and no one would tell her different,
when riding in the car she didn't like people who wore denim because her claws couldn't keep a grip, she prefered sitting in the front because the chairs were better to grip and she could get a scratch from my dad when we got back in the car from a walk.
She didn't like people being upset, If i went into the room and sat on the floor with her and i was in a mood, she'd nose into my ribs till i laughed and stroked her to make her stop.
She bloody hated tech, was jealous of both my laptops and my phone when it got in the way of 'her' time and what she wanted to do.
As you can see, she was a little diva poser, but if she didn't want a picture, she'd show you her bum (i am not kidding here) even if it meant embarrasing you on a live stream for Gishwes.
she loved kids because kids loved her, didn't like them messing with her little tail though, tucked it in and told them off if they tried to grab it.
she licked eyes because it got funny reactions from humans, and she liked a good french kiss, if you yawned when she was near you and you were low enough she'd take it as an offer.
she hated rain. with a passion, if she so much as smelled it on the air the Angel himself couldn't make her go out, but she liked snow. after it had fallen ofcourse otherwise it was just white rain, and not to be countenanced.
didn't reckon much to dog clothes. or hates. would rather chew a santa had than wear it. thought she liked rolling up in my Hufflepuff scarf if i left it out.
We have this big plack throw I got for watching tv in winter, she'd burry under it and lay down, and if you didn't know she was there you'd trip, even when she laid ontop of it (even when she was greying) she'd melt into the colour and you'd have to be very careful.
she made these cute little yips in her sleep, i did record them but i don't know if the video got destroyed when my harddrive melted 2 yrs ago, you could hear them throughout the house.
she'd always be waiting for me when i got in from conventions, right there in the hall as if i'd been on a long pilgramage and she'd not seen me in months even if it had only been a day.
she'd be there at the bottom of the stairs on a morning..or with her hed in her bowl, depending if dad had fed her yet.
even when these random crying bouts stop. I will always miss my little hellhound, she was with me through some of the worst times in my life, when I really didn't know which was was up.
I don't know what i believe in half the time, but if there is something out there angel/entity/other I want to believe when my baby opened her eyes on the otherside, saw Maxie, went up and gave him a long overdue lick from me...
Thats all i can say right now...
