i had Soulja Boy's
Kiss Me Thru the Phone in mind while writting this. It's not the greatest song, but it's cute and it helped me write bikey, so meh lol.
He could handle the distance when Michael was in England while he was in Spain, both before and after they had played together for the same club. Some how the distance was pacified with the knowledge that they were only an hour apart. They made it work whether it was the constant phone calls or the occasional but just as important visits. He’ll never forget the time Michael surprised him with a visit after he had returned to England and whisked him away after he had a match in Getafe. David’s still not too sure how Michael managed to pull that off, but he knows he must have had some help. It was perfect. Michael had rented out a private villa that over looked the Guadarrama Mountains. They spent their evening together watching the snow flakes gracefully descend from the clouds above before ending off the night wrapped up within each other’s bodies. Sure, they had many more nights together after that, but in that moment the world ceased to exist. Michael had planned all of it for him, for them to spend together to remember and never forget. He didn’t need the rose petals on the bed or the scented candlelit bath or the chilled Champagne by the bedside but he appreciated it all. It was only enhanced by every kiss Michael bestowed on him, every touch he strategically placed over the vast expanse of his skin. He needed Michael and that night he had every part of him.
The distance is manageable while David’s in Italy too. Although they don’t see each other as often as before, they understand and make most of the time they do have together. The length of their phone conversations have increased immensely, but David knows it’s worth it when he can hear Michael’s smile through his voice. Their relationship is still burning with passion but it has turned into a quiet burn. They memorize and save every detail of their conversations so when they manage to meet up they express their longing and love through overdue touches and caresses.
It’s something about being back halfway across the world that worries David. But it’s not just the distance. His life in Los Angeles is too hectic, too busy; he found that there were days where didn’t even have time for his family. He doesn’t want that again. He can’t not have his family and Michael; David knows he won’t be able to handle it. Needless to say, he is not looking forward to July.

“David? You’re falling asleep aren’t you? I’ll let you go.”
“No!” David insists vehemently. “I’m not falling asleep. I promise. I was… just thinking, that’s all.”
“Yeah?” Michael’s voice gets soft, quiet. “About what?”
“A-about…” David pauses to swallow the lump that’s forming in his throat. An idea sprouts into mind and he quickly defers the first line of thought. “Turn on your video.”
“What?”
“You know, the video feature on your phone. I need to see your face.”
Michael begins to laugh but automatically stops when he picks up the desperation in David’s voice. “O-okay. Hold on.”
Seconds later, Michael’s tired but ever handsome face flashed upon his screen, sending a smile to David’s lips almost instantaneously. Neither man says a word for a moment, just taking in the sight of each other before David sighs.
“What’s wrong, David?” A frown forms on Michael’s mouth and David wants to kick himself for causing it.
“Nothing… I just,” He runs his fingers through his short hair, pulling it lightly. “I miss you.”
“I know, David and I miss you more. I know you’re thinking about this summer. Don’t. We’ll handle it like we always do. I’ll visit or”
“I love you, Mikey,” David interjects quickly, not wanting to think beyond this particular moment in time. “God. I just want to kiss you right now.”
The smile that forms on Michael’s lips is lethal as he smirks. “Yeah? Then why don’t you?”
David laughs and Michael’s heart soars. The sound fills his ears, the sight filling his heart. He knows they’ll be ok.
“Through the phone?”
“Why not? It’s all we got for now.”
David stops to think about this for a second before breaking out in a grin of his own. “God, I love you so much.” He presses his lips together and kisses the image of Michael’s lips on the screen. When he pulls away the look on Michael’s face says it all. They’ll be more than ok.
“Not as much as I love you, David.”
They talk for a few more minutes, prolonging the inevitable. They kiss through the phone a few more times before leaving with the words “until tomorrow” sounding softly in the air.
