On nights like this, where it’s too hot, too stuffy, too uncomfortable to sleep, Andy doesn’t even attempt to. It’s late but the heat is still so prominent in Melbourne at any time of the day. There’s nothing on TV, well nothing that can keep him interested for longer than five minutes. So after flipping through the channels for a better part of an hour, Andy tosses the remote aside and pads over to the balcony of his hotel room. There’s a slight breeze, barely a whisper over his skin but it’s better than being inside.
The streets below are still bustling with life, like they always are in Melbourne. Andy watched as the cars drive by, the people strolling along, the hum of life in as his soundtrack. It’s peaceful and he likes it like this.
The quiet squeak of bedsprings and slight rustle of sheets nabs his attention away from the scenery. He turns around and smiles when he sees his lovers sleeping serenely together.
The dim light in the bathroom lights up the room (he left it on to navigate his way) just enough for Andy to see the outline of their bodies together, their differences blending into similarities.
Marat’s on his back with Mardy half on his chest and torso. Mardy has one leg in between Marat’s and Andy knows the Russian absolutely hates it but never tells Mardy to remove his limb either. One of Mardy’s hands is curled around his tattooed bicep while the other one is cradled into himself. His head is on Marat’s chest, his nose pressed right into his ribs. Lines and curves smooth together, leaving a picture of one body, one soul.
Despite it probably being warmer amongst the bodies on the bed, Andy slowly peels off his clothes as he decides he rather be amongst the life of his lovers than of a city he visits only once a year.
