footballverse, season two. Prompt: world cup
To play for your country on a stage as big as the World Cup is something every footballer dreams of when they were young little boys. You have imagined yourself waiting in the tunnel, standing amongst your teammates and opponents as you get ready to show the entire world what you are made of. You have pictured yourself looking up beyond the crowd and to the sky, searching, praying, hoping. You have always wanted to be a part of the reason why the crowd is shouting your country’s anthem, singing until their lungs collapse. You have always wanted to feel every inch of your body - your veins - fill with pride and honour.
Yet when your chance comes, you fall to your knees, greeting defeat graciously not knowing if there will be a next time.

footballverse season two. Prompts: werder bremen & lazio
The first time you let your fingers roam over the sky blue kit, over the crest of the strong and fierce eagle, you want to say it feels right, like you are meant to play for Lazio. You know the history of the club, how they had a reputation of winning that you would love to restore. You are the one that wanted a change and you know being a Biancocelesti will be good for you, being in Italy and getting the fresh start you both craved and deserved.
Leaving home - home - however isn’t easy either. When your fingers touch that beautiful sky blue, they suddenly itch for the familiarity of rich green and the diamond crest. Werder Bremen has been your home since before you can remember. When you were little growing up in Bremerhaven you dreamed of the days you pulled on that sacred shirt. When you were little you couldn’t have imagined playing anywhere else.
But you’re not little anymore and you know that sometimes it’s more than what you want, that football is more complicated than you could have ever thought possible.
