So yeah! Life has been quite the crazy lately. A ton of exams and quizzes lately ... some haven't been too bad. We have our next chem exam on Tuesday night, which is going to suck. It's going to suck a lot. Bah.
Long time no update... I've been keeping busy. I spend a lot of time studying up on north campus (:rolls eyes at the bus driver, who is convinced Martin's "my boy"), and I'm putting in a decent amount of time at work. That's paying off, though... I'm starting to really know my way around the lab, I'm much more comfortable doing stuff on my own, and I was actually recognized for my work during Chris's presentation of the project. Happy :) I don't know about my partner though.. she hasn't shown up for work in several weeks. I think she's going to get kicked off the project. Oh darn.
Appently there was a wee fire in my room the other day? Esther burned rice or something, and the room *still* smells of smoke. Ugh. I guess there was a lot of smoke at the time - enough to set off the fire alarm and everything - but a certain someone still hasn't cleaned out the microwave. I'm kinda pissed.
I talked to the German Concentration Advisor the other day, too. I'm definitely looking more seriously into German as a major (making me double major in Bio/German) but I don't know for certain yet. I'm really not very good at anything in that class ... well, my comprehension is decent and my writing is okay, but my speaking skills are terrible. I talked to Kalli for a long time, and he has me seriously considering spending Winter 2006 in Germany. I think I'll be able to afford it, and it would be an absolutely amazing opportunity - I could get up to 18 credits during the seven months I'd be there.
But we'll have to see about that later. I really want to go... I've kind of dreamt of that for a long time now. :wishes:
Hmm, what else? Nothing too exciting... thank god it's Friday. I was up until after four this morning, working on an application for next year to be on the UIR board. :shrugs: We'll see. I think it would be cool to do, but I really won't be heart broken if I don't get the position. I had such a hard time getting up this morning, ugh. Chem was quite pointless (although no more so than usual, I guess. I'm quite worried about the exam on Tuesday . . . ). Antrho was pretty good - I do look forward to that class everytime I go. He's such a great lecturer. Hm. German wasn't bad. We had a quiz, I think I did alright.
Haha, after class Dmitriy walked with Stephanie and me to Stockwell for lunch... unintentionally. He had meant to leave us at the bus stop, but we were chatting and he lost track of where he was. It was cute, as we were on the bridge he was like, "guys... uh, where are we?". I love how engineers (okay, I'm being a bit stereotypical. so sue me) act like the Hill is such a different world. Apparently he'd never been there, so we went to lunch and whatnot. After we ate Stephanie went to her room and I walked with him to the end of the bridge on my way to work.
Work was cool, I spent an hour or so in the mouse room, then started the process for isolating the DNA. There are 19 samples this time (three different litters), so I'll have a lot to do on Monday.
I can't wait until Wednesday. Marcus is picking me up in the evening. I'm going to have so much to do over break... but I could sure use it.
