Apparently, my body sucks

Feb 16, 2006 14:08

...at processing sugars. Stupid insulin. I got the results from my 1-hour glucose test, and they were not good. Jamie said that they don't like the blood sugar level to be above 140 (and that's on the high side), and mine was effing 292!! I freaked out a little bit, but I s'pose this is why I decided to go to a high risk OB. Anyway, I have to ( Read more... )

Hang in there! *hugs*

Gestational diabetes is a common problem and I'm sure that you'll be able to manage it with your doctor.

Thanks, hon. I know it's fairly common, but it just kind of freaked me out a bit, ya know? *le sigh* I can do it, though!! ;)

Thanks again. *hugs*

aww poor Rachie!

Well on the bright side of a c-section... that will mean your baby will have a perfectly round head which is great for boys cause then they don't look bad if they have to get their hair buzzed or if WAAAY down the road they go bald ^^;;

Aw poor girl!
That sucks about the one-hour. I felt the same way when I had mine. My stats where about the same as yours. My bloodsugar was pretty high. I ended up with it, though.. as you know, and am now on a low-carb diet, and trying to manage my sugar with diet and 5mg insulin pills. Which, doesn't suck so bad once you become used to it. I was just moved to a high risk clinic, so I can't offer any advice there. I was scared of the c-section rate, and still am because I want a vaginal birth as well.. but prehaps if they nail yours early (and mine for that matter) things will work out for the both of us! I wish you the best of luck though. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
*hugz n' loves* :)

To look on the bright stide, at least I won't have to change docs b/c I was high risk in the first place, and I already have a *wonderful* high risk OB. :)

I now understand how you were feeling...kind of like, "wtf, man?!" Ohs well, we'll just have to be good girls and stick to the diet and anything else they throw at us, and we should be fine to have the birth experience we want. *crosses fingers*

Thanks for the support, darlin'. I really appreciate it. *snugs*

Take a really good book. They say the test is three hours, but it feels like three days ( ... )

Thanks so much for the support. It helps to have someone who's been there, done that, and survived the experience. :) It was just so shocking, and still is, because even though I don't have the 3 hour test results back yet, chances are that I'll be doing the diet thang and packing around a little sugar moniter by sometime next week. I'll do whatever it takes to make sure that I have a healthy baby, and that I don't kill myself in the process. :D It also reassures me to know that your little one was healthy and a healthy weight...somehow it makes it easier ( ... )

Right before I found out about the diabetes thing, I was eating everything sugary I could find (blaming pregnancy cravings of course). Usually, I am also a salty/crunchy person, but during this time, in one day, I drank an entire pitcher of cherry Kool-Aid! And I wondered why I felt so tired ( ... )

Barbie: Math is hard!

Adriane: Who knew being pregnant could be complicated!?

Barbie: Math is hard!

Adriane: ...stupid plastic biotch.

:) Hang in there, I'm thinking good, warm thoughts for ya! And, I'm learning some things since you're posting these experiences.
