Pretend
He could always pretend, he thought.
Oh sure, he could always ignore the small stuff, pretend it never happened. He could always just pretend - pretend that he didn't see the other's eyes pass by him, pretend he didn't notice the way his bandmate's fingertips brushed lightly against his ears (and he did it on live television, mind you) or pretend he didn't feel the warm breath that escaped past the younger man's lips and words traveled through his ears, joking about simple observations and whatnot.
He could also deny - deny that, during rehearsals, he liked watching the other dance, especially the way he swayed his hips while walking. He would always say he enjoyed practicing because it helps him improve his dancing skills or that he enjoyed spending time with the other members. He instead smiles and keeps a straight face, nodding back as if it were part of the act. (Lies. All lies, his mind screamed at him.)
But when he closes his eyes, the feeling of hands tugging his shirt down, moving past to touch his soft skin when no one is around, was becoming slightly unbearable.
He keeps quiet, his mind trying to struggle. He knows he can't last for long. Maybe someday he can drop the act and then asks himself if it's possible, could it be real?
He thinks, maybe not.
Until then, he could always pretend, couldn't he?
