Chapter Six
"Uwaaaaaahhhh~!! These flowers are so beautiful!! And all for me!!! I'm so lucky!!" Emiko gushed.
I rolled my eyes. I mean, Emiko usually gets noticed by guys and stuff but I guess I can...kind of understand because this is the first time she's gotten flowers or a secret admirer. At all.
....okay, I take that back. No, I don't. I don't understand it at all. But I let her have her moment. Even if the guy was a rude, weird jerk.
She's been on my bed, gushing about the whole thing now for about an hour. Ever since she found out, she's been so excited and all dreamy-eyed, staring at the ceiling and playing this song I don't even know the name of. I've been sitting in front of my computer, writing my paper while listening to her.
"Can you tone the music down a bit?" I try to say above the loud music. "I'm trying to work." I turn around to face her. "What's the title of this song anyway?"
She sits up and her eyes light up at my question. "Oh! That's one of my favourite songs!! It's "Te Tsunagoo" by Arashi!! Isn't the song pretty?" She smiles and sighs.
I raise an eyebrow at her and turn back to the computer. "Right..."
Just then, the door opens and my aunt comes in. "Hey, whose flowers are those in the kitchen??"
"Oh, Emiko's got a secret admirer." I said absentmindedly.
"Really??" She squealed. "Well, whoever sent those flowers has an impeccable taste! White lilies are very expensive!! He must be really rich and must really like you." She waggled her eyebrows at Emiko.
"Not only that," Emiko added. "but he gave me this." She grabbed the letter from under a pillow and showed it to my aunt.
My aunt took it and read the contents. Her eyes grew big at the drawing. "Wow..." She pointed at the drawing. "Did he draw this? He's really good!! And look how he captured your face. It really looks like you! He must be an artist then..."
"Or a stalker slash murderer..." I muttered.
"Hey!" Emiko called out. "I don't think that's true! Besides, how would you know? You've never even seen him..."
"Correction. I have seen him, remember? I was the one he gave the flowers to by mistake."
"Yeah, but you said he was wearing shades so you didn't see his face."
Well, she got me there. "Still, at least I know what he looks like. Also, we don't know anything about him. For all we know, he might be some stalker slash murderer, a sex-crazed rapist or a rich, dirty old man!!" I turned around and faced them with a knowing glare.
"Aren't we jumping to conclusions a bit?" Emiko told me. She shook her head. "God, Hanari. You and your imagination...running away again..."
My aunt leaned against the door. "You're too cynical, Hanari." She tapped her cheek with a finger as she looks at the computer behind me. "You know, you work too hard...you need to get out more." She tilted her head slightly and watched me. "Maybe what you need is a love life...."
I snorted loudly. "Yeah, right."
"Hey! That's a great idea!!" Emiko chimed in.
"Oh no no!" I raised my hands, palms facing them, and shook it wildly. "HELL NO!! You have got to be kidding me! No! Thanks, but no thanks. I don't need a love life. I've already got too much on my plate. Having one only complicates things. Besides, having one or getting one is too expensive." I shuddered and shook my head.
"Aunt," Emiko turned to my aunt. "Don't you have a friend who's a matchmaker? Maybe she could help find someone for Hanari..."
My eyes grew large at this statement. "Oi!! Don't give her any ideas!!"
My aunt's face lit up. "Oh yeah!! Mrs. Omotsu from the Mayor's Office!! She's a regular customer who moonlights as a part-time matchmaker. What a great idea Emiko! I think I'll talk to her next time she comes!!"
I glared at Emiko as she smirked evilly at me.

What the hell are they saying? I thought to myself as I parked the car at the nearest slot near the library entrance. I don't need a love life. Please...
I got out of the car with my bag and locked the car. Actually, I don't. I'm happy with my life right now. I've got my family, my friends, and my work. I'm happy, healthy....
...and I've got him. What more could I ask for?
I entered the public library and returned the book I borrowed. I kept thinking about him and what I thought just now. I mean, yeah, I've got him but I don't actually "got" him like he's mine. More like I have a crush on him and he's somewhat a presence in my life. To be honest, I'm satisfied just having a crush on him and I don't expect any more. Why should I? He's a celebrity, after all. Besides, he's not just any celebrity. He's from the talent agency Johnny's Entertainment, which I heard bans their clients from having a love life (or pretty much less a life) or something like that. I think that's a bit extreme but hey, that's just me.
As I walked out, I kept giving myself a mental kudos for having realistic expectations about him when I felt like I forgot something. I stopped outside the entrance and started searching for my car keys. It's not in my pocket so I tried searching in my bag. While trying to search for it, I unconsciously walk towards the door. As soon as I find it, the door suddenly opens and I walk right dab smack into it. The door slams into me, sending me falling down. My butt hits the cemented pavement.
"Itaaaiiii~" I yelp, rubbing my backside.
"Oh no!" A voice yells. "Are you alright?"
"I think so..." I reply, closing my eyes in pain.
"Here, let me help you." A pair of hands cover mine as I try to get to my feet.
"Thanks," I dust myself off. As I look up, my eyes saw the most familiar brown ones I could ever remember in my life. Shocked, I took a step back.
It was him. I couldn't breathe, let alone think.
It wasn't until he spoke out that I realized I had taken several steps back. I didn't know what to do and did the first thing that came to my mind: run.
"Hey wait!" He called after me.
But I couldn't. I ran as fast towards the parking lot until I reached my car.
Frustrated, I dropped to my knees and leaned against the car. That was when I heard a clanking sound.
I looked down to find the car keys, which had fallen out of my coat pockets.
"Oh."
Oops.
