I'm going to leave this entry open to anyone, since it's a reply to a friend's blog about living in Japan. This isnt an argument or a rebuttal or whatever. It's just what came to mind when I read the orignal

well said. One more thing though - cultural cues. Even if you understand the language fully, there are going to be some things that go way over your head because you weren't raised to recognize them.
This sounds like my experience in France, save for one thing. There is NOTHING I like about this country. Oops lol
Thank you for writing such things down. When I was younger and before I went to Japan for the first time I was like "omg, everything is so awesome in Japan" but when I arrived I felt so lost and I always thought my Japanese is good enough to talk about basic stuff but actually it is not. And I kinda started to hate certain things when I came back to Japan this year but there are also a lot of things I miss when it comes to Japan because my country simply sucks in so many ways. Now I know that Japan isn't wonderland as long as you can't escape anymore. It might be nice to live there for a while but I think I would freak out after a while. I'm very impressed that you made it 9 years already. I wouldn't be strong enough to live in Japan.
I'm glad you understand my feelings. Even after posting this, I was worried that it might sound bad and get alot of "if Japan sucks so much, go home" replies!
Why would I say such things? It's your home, you had to deal with lots of things and you have your husband and baby in Osaka.. I would never say such things, it's stupid and way too easy.
"I wont go into small shops to look around because I feel like if I dont buy anything, the clerks will notice more than if I was Japanese." I am ridiculously self-conscious and I developed a legit fear of going grocery shopping or out in general during the day the two weeks I visited Japan because of this.
Also, congrats on the baby. :D You haven't posted any public entries in a while so I lost track of what was going on in regards to that.
I had some complete stranger attack me (in a completely different online forum), claiming I'm lying about living in Japan...so since then, I've kept all my entries limited to people I know really well. But since you went to the trouble of commenting on this, I'll add you!

People seriously look for the most absurd excuses to stir up drama. Sorry to hear that happened. =(
