After more than ten years, I was able to go and visit Bicol again, in Camarines Sur. It was exhausting, yet fun. Life, three mountains away from the small town, is really difficult but thrilling at the same time.
I got to experience so many things and, for the second time, walked an hour or more from that small town to the top of the mountain where my grandmother's house is located. And it isn't just one mountain. It was really tiring. It was raining when we arrived, which made it more difficult to walk since it's very slippery and the mud is so deep (about above ankle deep) and sticky that there was this one time I couldn't take my foot out for some time. We played bingo and my brothers enjoyed playing lucky9 with the kids. Our whole family, along with my brother's son, went there for my Grandmother's wake and burial. I was supposed to go back earlier for work but it rained on that day. My mother doesn't want me to leave alone with that heavy rain.
We also had fresh Buko juice. My nephew liked it. I was actually surprised that Basti didn't complain in the way of living there. The house is the typical bahay kubo, made of wood, bamboo and nipa.Maybe the fact that he has a lot of playmates (cousins and little uncles and aunts about his age) made it easier for him to adjust.
Basti even ride on a carabao on our way back to the small town for my lola's burial and back up to eat then down again to leave on that very same night. That was Friday. haha on Thursday I got really sick with high fever. and right now, I have cough and cold; my voice sounds weird (if you could even call that voice | -.-'' | ).
Oh! And I wouldn't forget the transportation we used to go there. A truck! Yes! You read it right. A truck. It's my cousin's truck which was being used to deliver sacks and sacks of rice. On our way to Bicol, I can't even move a muscle! Basti slept on my lap. It's okay and wouldn't really hurt if my nephew is just a toddler but he's already a big boy, aged eight years old. Imagine letting an eight year old boy sleep on your lap for 8 to nine hours with only three ten minute food and restroom break? T-T
Then walking and walking and walking......... I think I've already consumed a year's worth of exercise there. xDDDD
Monday night (we arrived Monday morning) I didn't even had dinner anymore and just slept from afternoon till about eight in the morning. That's how exhausted I was. hahaha. But as I have said, it was tiring but really fun. :D
I'd love to go back there again. Hopefully, not because of a sad event again.
