The healing and not-healing wounds in this make me want to hug Duck, or get someone else to hug him. I suspect this is part of the point of the story. The bitter and sweet, all mixed together, work very well.

Oh, I'm so glad Duck had a good relationship in there, if only for a while. Lovely!

This was lovely. Duck is such an awesome character - quiet and still, and wonderful to write and read.

For some reason, the paragraph that particularly touched me was Duck's matter-of-fact retelling of his life, starting with: "Duck remembered the old times..." and ending with: "...Pain and regret, his mother's tears, leaving the island after graduation, open road and the rest." So moving, and so very, very Duck MacDonald <3

Thank you, it is especially Duck's quietness that appeals to me, how you can sense the big currents of emotion under the calm and smiling exterior. I'm glad you liked this!

Thank you for your wonderful feedback and kind words! I figure that Duck and Dan are pretty much meant to be, because Duck understands what's going on in Dan's mind - the pain, longing and the rest - Duck's experienced it all himself.
