oh, nice. I love the geography of this, and the way you capture Lennox's family, and also the way Cutter's mom appears as if in silhouette while his dad is only seen by uninvolved third parties. It's striking how very, very little Cutter has anchoring him to the place. I didn't even realize just how incredibly needful he is by the time of the film (too distracted by the pretty, I guess :P). Hurray for angst! *g*
Thanks so much! I'm especially glad the geography came through for you--I love that part of the country. (And hee, trust me to find the angst in a goofy comedy about beavers and curling. I can't help it! It's like a disease! *g*)
i like it, a lot! it gives a very believable backstory to lennox's life and i love the way you describe cutter and his wish to get away from everything, even back then.
Wow, I really, really like this. I love getting backstory on the bond between the guys. You've done a great job of building on the framework given in canon.
even without knowledge of the movie, this is a great story. just a sweet, sad, sometimes funny look at the two boys' lives and their relationship. for some reason, this line epitomizes what i'm talking about:
Lennox holds the bag of coke out to Cutter. Cutter shakes his head. Lennox puts it in his lap. Cutter throws it back.
that's just very boy-like, very them. thank you - tally
