tough as nails

I took an awesome strength training class today at my gym. I think I've figured out that I like working out, just so long as I don't have to bounce up and down like a cheerleader or get in touch with my inner sensitive side. When I finish working out, I don't want to feel like I love all my womyn sisters, I want to feel like I could punch through ( Read more... )

Much to my utter surprise, this season's line at Banana Republic is relatively awesome. J. Crew is not that great right now for some reason, I have never managed to figure out what the Limited is up to, and while I live for Ann Taylor, BR outdid it on my last shopping trip.

Otherwise, yeah. I feel your pain, and thus spend most of my time in shoe stores. I also clearly have no suggestions for anything reasonably priced. :-)

My housemate just got really nice BR pants for $29! I may have to go there on my next trip. Ann Taylor is very. . .somber right now. I love it for dress clothes and basics (jackets, suits, coats), but not for hip fun sweater that will make me look like a young professional in the multimedia biz.

My frequent faves are H&M, Express and Macy's (their house brand, INC International Concepts, is awesome). Arden B. and Anthropologie are awesome, though much more expensive. Ann Taylor Loft seems like a good place, although I never actually get anything there. Something I always ask myself when shopping for work stuff is, "Can I wear this not to work, too?" because I feel much better about buying something I know I'll get a lot of mileage out of.

Your positive gym experience has encouraged me. I'm trying to up my overall fitness and really work on strength as well as my running, so Ima try to go to the gym before work tomorrow.

Miss and love you, I'll call you this week.

I'm loving Express more as time goes on - there's a woman who works at the one near my office who is INSANELY friendly. She helped me pick out two outfits that I adore, and she really listened to me when I told her that I wanted something appropriate, but I wanted to stretch my boundaries of what I'd normally wear.

And kick ass on the fitness thing! My gym recently had a team challenge thing that I need to tell you about when you call, because it was such good motivation!

Don't underestimate the gap and old navy for basic button shirts and things like that. H&M is hit or miss - definitely not as good quality, but sometimes useful for variety.

yep! the gap outlet in the arsenal mall is my friend. if what i really want is a vneck sweater or a tank top or whatnot, there's no point in going to some frilly store that gives scoop neck shirts names like "Trishelle" and "Veronica." I think now I need more adventurous stuff to round out my adult wardrobe. Currently, everything adventurous I have is designed to resist cigarette smoke, expose cleavage or fit a party theme. so not *enough* gap and old navy.

New York and Company...that's my vote...goes to admire new outfits from there, and a lot of it can be used on a regular basis for non-work things.
