So, about 48 hours of zombie movies later. . .
If the world were actually full of crazed scientists with vendettas against humanity, we'd live in a scary, scary place. I've also started to realize how much the zombie film genre hinges on rape as a plot device. Sometimes that means humans raping humans in the chaos of humanity's certain doom. Sometimes it's just the way the zombies are portrayed - they're violent, but the only weapons they have are their bodies - which they use to torture and mutilate human bodies. In almost every zombie film, there's some scene where they describe the zombies' main life goals as "the basest human instincts." Those usually turn out to be: to feed and to make more zombies. It's really disturbing in a sociological way, not to mention that zombies are scary.
I have managed to not have a single actual plague-destroys-humanity nightmare since starting this project, and I'm going to count that as a big win.
