The screaming between the two men in the office above the gate room could be heard even from the corridors. Well, it was more like one man screaming and the other trying to be heard over the top.

Needless to say it didn’t end well. Ronon ended up storming out of Woolsey’s office and that was the last anyone saw of him for the rest of the day. It was understandable - no one tried to stop him as he headed to his quarters.

He just couldn’t believe she was gone. He refused to believe she was gone. Less than a day ago she had been talking and laughing with him and now she was who knows where. She could be anywhere in the whole galaxy.

But Woolsey still refused to send out a search and rescue effort. They knew where she had been taken from, why didn’t they go looking for her? It made Ronon so furious that he felt like he would explode if he didn’t maim something. Or at least fire his gun at something. A few times. Okay, maybe more than a few times. Okay, maiming something to the point where it was beyond recognition sounded a lot better - which reminded him why exactly he had locked himself in his rooms for the last few hours.

But he couldn’t - wouldn’t - stay locked up in here forever. He needed to do something to save her. He needed to bring her back to where she belonged, here on Atlantis... with him.

He’d packed up all the belongings he could carry and left his room late enough that most people would be elsewhere when he marched through the halls to the gate room.

There was one man who did get in his way, though.

“Ronon, I’m getting the whole protective male thing you have going on at the moment but come on, this is getting a bit ridiculous, right?” Sheppard asked of him, struggling to keep up with the long strides of the Satedan as he wound his way through the maze of Atlantis’ halls.

“I’m sick of giving up on people. I’m not you, Sheppard, I can’t just let people disappear.” That hit close to home and Ronon knew it as the Colonel’s step faltered slightly as they turned the corner. It was enough for Ronon to escape the man. He fell back and the last thing he heard of his former leader was “Are you at least coming back?” His only answer was the quickened pace and soon Sheppard was out of sight.

He reached the gate room in what seemed like record time and as he looked up at the control room, he couldn’t help but linger his gaze upon the empty chair that should have a certain woman in it.

Shrugging off his pack, he climbed the stairs three at a time. He rounded on Chuck with his best threatening look and instantly the technician cowered under it. Without wavering, he dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out a small but clear piece of paper with seven familiar symbols on it.

“This is how it’s going to go. You dial this gate. I will go through the gate. You will forget this ever happened. Okay?” Simple, but effective. Chuck stuttering reply was all he needed. Shoving the paper into the man’s hand, he turned his back and jumped back down the steps. He picked up his pack and without even a second glance behind him, he stepped through the wormhole that appeared before him.

He knows as he falls through to the rough ground on the other side that he can’t go back to that place until he has her in his arms. His pride won’t allow him to. He knows it wouldn’t make sense to many other people. But it makes sense to him.

He won’t move from this ground even if it rains or snows. Even if it’s a day, a month or a year he’s not going to change his mind.

And so there he is travelling from planet to planet, armed with the clothes on his back and a picture of her in his hand, in search of something that he might not even find - redemption.

Just another torturing for information and another dialled gate. And as the days do roll into months and the months do roll on... he realises that he might never return home.

He can’t move on because he’s still in love with her.
