Jen says I get overly passionate and heated when talking about this, but I think a lot of the "DO NOT EAT" foods people get all freaked out about is 99% bullshit. Everything has been and will be randomly considered carcinogenic at some point. We like to say that if there is a .000000000002% chance it may be harmful and we haven't proven 100% that ( Read more... )

There's a notice at work about the particulars of our food; most don't have eggs (lots of Indians and the occasional allergic are keen on that), most of our products are in fact kosher, and nitrates are present in ice creams with candied fruits or something like that.

No one's ever asked about the last one, two, maybe three Jews I know have noticed the kosher labels on the display case, and the egg bit is fairly common.

My grandma once related in passing how she was having a drink with friends, and announced she was pregnant with one of my aunts/uncles/my dad possibly, to which they celebrated with another round. Eh..

Heehee. I appreciate your research, Stella. I will probably not cook my brie as I still prefer it runny au naturel but I will enjoy that bacon. I still have a present for you, which I keep forgetting to give you. Will try to remember to bring it on Sat.

I was told tonight by a visiting NY friend that Frances (who he saw through Twitpics) is the "perfect specimen of a dog." I agree.

pasteurized soft cheeses! Really, I realize that most of the cheese I get at bi-rite is pasteurized.

Frances is pretty perfect.

" So I guess if you live in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere and you eat 10 packs of bologne + 30 oscar meyer hot dogs + several packages of bacon every day and never eat a fresh fruit or vegetable, you should probably not do that."

This almost made me pee my pants laughing. Because its true.. XD
Horray! I have been having bacon every now and again, so now I know at least I am not horrible. Also I did have some brie, so brie is safe if its pasteurized? Thank the gods because I do love that brie...
