Your character's name (last, first): Sparda, Vergil
Series your character's from: Devil May Cry 3
Background info on your character:
In the Devil May Cry universe, there is a legend that speaks of a powerful demon named Sparda who rebelled against his own kind for the sake of man. In order to put an end to demons ravaging the world, he defeated the demon-prince Mundus, sealing him and all-things-demonic away where they would have no access to mankind's realm. Yet because he was a demon himself, Sparda's powers were also sealed on the other side; thus he resided in the human world, where he married a beautiful woman named Eva. The two eventually had twin sons, the eldest named Vergil and the youngest named Dante.
Sparda died sometime after the twins were born (thank you canon for not telling us exactly how, when, or why), so both Vergil and Dante grew up not knowing their father. Eva did, however, tell them stories about how Sparda saved mankind, so the twins began to know him through the legacy he left behind. It's implied within the series that the family of three were very close to each other, which only made the impending death of their mother even more traumatic. One day, a group of demons, obviously embittered by the betrayal of Sparda, attacked the family as a means of revenge. Very little is known about this particular event since canon is still very vague on the details, but apparently Eva instructed the twins to hide while she would try to hold off the attackers. This ended violently, since Eva stood no chance against the group of demons, and so the twins could only watch as their mother was murdered. orz bad end.
Needless to say, this event was a huge catalyst leading to Vergil's sometimes very twisted way of viewing things. Though canon is once again very vague concerning the years following Eva's death, it's more than obvious that the helplessness Vergil felt during that particular incident led him down a somewhat twisted path for more power, driven by revenge and the prospect of becoming strong enough to be in control of every situation.
Vergil made it a priority of his to study the legend of Sparda, eventually learning that his father's power was sealed. Naturally, he wished to find a way to break the seal and gain the power of Sparda trapped behind it. One day, he conveniently met a man named Arkham, an individual who knew an awful lot about the demon realm and, more importantly, the seal that his father had created. Deeming him useful, Vergil allowed Arkham to lead him to Temen-ni-Gru, an epic hueg tower created by those seduced by the dark powers of demons before Sparda's rebellion. He told Vergil that one of the keys to breaking the seal was the amulet that their deceased mother gave the twins as a birthday present when they were younger; to make things complicated, however, Vergil himself only held half of the amulet while Dante had the other. And the two brothers were not exactly on the friendliest terms at the moment.
Despite this, Dante was eventually dragged into the entire mess, though the younger twin didn't intend to aid Vergil in breaking Sparda's seal. In fact, he does quite the opposite, and eventually ends up trying to put an end to the entire plan, despite his overall aura of carefree indifference. Dramatic events ensue inside Temen-ni-Gru. =A= Many demons are fought, much progressing through the tower is done, brothers clash in epic battorus, and an epic plot twist takes place. It's soon revealed that Arkham is the main antagonist in this particular story (though lol as if you couldn't already see that coming from a mile away) and was using the twins against each other to further his own goals. I.e. to obtain the power of Sparda for himself oops. At the end of the game, the twins actually found themselves working together in order to defeat Arkham, and apparently teamwork pays off because they were successful. This was all well and good, but soon afterwards, the twins found themselves fighting once again, for Vergil wasn't ready to give up the "keys" to the seal.
While this fight was taking the place, the gates to the demon world that Arkham had previously began to open were steadily closing. Dante ended up defeating Vergil, but the latter leapt into the closing gates with his half of the amulet, sealing himself in the demon world. Goog jorb, Vergil. On the other side, he encountered the demon prince Mundus himself and believed that he was strong enough to defeat him. Huge miscalculation on Vergil's part. He was beaten by Mundus and brainwashed into being his servant, as is obvious from his appearance in the first Devil May Cry game.
BUT that doesn't matter, since this app is about DMC3!Vergil and that he will be taken near the very beginning of the game, right before his entrance into Temen-ni-Gru.
As for Vergil's personality, he's the polar opposite of his brother. He's cool and collected, very distant, and not one to run his mouth. His obsession with gaining more power makes him appear to be crazy slightly twisted, and this is only amplified by his want to be in control all the time. He's... also kind of a cold-hearted bastard. Vergil embraces his demon heritage moreso than his humanity, which he deems as flawed and weak; and weak is not something he wishes to be. This is not to say that he doesn't have any emotion at all. In fact, he tends to get very frustrated when things to not go according to plan, something that, once again, ties into his desire for things to be under control. He's also not the type of person to have any qualms towards stabbing you when he becomes irritated and/or deems you useless, as he's demonstrated a few times in the game. In other words, not exactly the most sociable half-demon there is.
Considering that he's the son of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda, he has quite a few haxx abilities at his disposal. He's a highly skilled swordsman, and this coupled with his frighteningly exceptional speed and strength usually means his enemies will end up being sliced in half. Although by no means invincible, he can take quite the beating and still continue fighting, although this can be allocated to mental stubbornness and much as physical strength. :3;; Vergil hates using guns, so instead tends to rely on his demon powers to summon up nifty blue "swords" which go flying at the enemy and (very painfully) crashing into them. He can also temporarily transform, or "Devil Trigger" into a more demonic-looking state that basically makes him even stronger and faster. Though this will probably be used very rarely while on island, if at all. Since... lol potential for godmodding. =A=
Uuum... Vergil doesn't know anyone who is already on the island. :D; And as mentioned before, he'll be taken right before entering Temen-ni-Gru, so he was walking up the steps leading to the entrance of the tower when SURPRAIZ ISLAND.
Sample post: (First person point of view, please)
If you are not strong, then you will be defeated by those who are.
The weak are always the ones to complain of injustice, but that is all it ever is: a meaningless complaint. If you do not intend on growing stronger, if you do not intend on gaining more power, then you deserve little more than death. Your grievances will fall on deaf ears as will your body fall on the point of a sharpened blade. That's how it always has been; those who think they can change it so easily are nothing more than naive fools.
So I tire of hearing everyone here pathetically whine over injures they've acquired during certain fights. If you're going to be dissatisfied, then be dissatisfied with your own skill, and with your own inability to walk away unscathed. And be grateful that you still live for the time being; not everyone is so generous as to allow it. Myself included.
Or be grateful that this island does not allow a permanent death. I'm certain many of you have received second chances that you don't deserve. Disconcerting, to say the least. Perhaps I can take consolation in the fact that, second chances or not, the weak will always remain weak, unless some attempt to become more powerful has been made. But I see little of that, and even less concerning success.
For some reason, I'm hardly surprised.
A list of things your character might have on them after they got snatched up and put on this island:
-Yamato (his O-Katana)
-Half of his mother's pendant
-Er. The clothes on his back. \O_o/
