That all sounds promising. With all those people running around I wish someone could just run in and get the cats. Pins and needles.

Animal control may be aware, but is fire command aware? It doesn't take long to boot in a door and grab carriers out of a basement then transport them back to where AC can take custody.

Yeah, fire command is aware. I talked to them last night. That's who notified animal control, telling them, "We'll let you know when you can come in."

Thanks for the backup!

Sam, I know how we feel about you folks, but I love seeing that we're not the only ones. There's a love-fest going on. I wish a love-fest could stop flames.

In California, too, firefighting organizations are saying more and more that they're going to focus on "defensible" structures. The Oakland Hills Fire (which I was evacuated for, and which stopped about half a mile from my house at the time) taught a lot of lessons, at least in the short term. (People are still building like idiots, Oakland's fire hydrants still have different-size nozzles than those in surrounding areas, etc.) You folks have the house the firefighters will be standing around, doing their best.

I sure hope that you come home to a broken-down door. :) We'll chip in for a new one.

I'm glad, I guess, that Demi goes in to the hospital now. She'll be well cared for, and that'll give you one less thing to worry about.

We stopped by the vet today and they gave us a leash. They are on alert that we may be bringing the four kitties in any time.

A broken down door would be a GREAT problem to have.

If you need shoes, let me know - if I can get a city location near you? Might be able to walk you in there and pick some up - let me know.
