I'm writing this out for Doug's benefit, because he thinks these far-fetched bullshit situations only happen to him.

So there I was, planning on making a habanero cheddar for eithni, because I've been promising to make her one ever since she let me try that "unreasonably hot cheese" that a very nice Laurel in the Midrealm sent to her. I am aware that ( Read more... )

That's not the first scene from a sitcom to be enacted in that house. Many years ago, when we lived there, a squirrel found its way inside and took refuge from the cats at the top of the corner hutch in the dining room. While Chris was at work, I successfully lured it onto an open windowsill with peanut butter toast and chased it outside. It returned later, once he was home. He was too impatient to wait for it to go after the toast (men often feel the need to be active rather than passive). He tried to chase it with a broom. Hilarity ensued; the squirrel finally managed to get up inside our couch (not just under the cushions or in the folds of the hide-a-bed but actually into the structure of the back of the couch, where it was completely inaccessible). I ended up borrowing a live trap from my grandfather that was actually designed for raccoons (and thus comically large for a squirrel, but effective nonetheless). We finally evicted the interloper the next day.
