Ah, the 80s...I just can't get enough

I went to my office building's cafe to grab something for lunch. The music that was playing over the PA system while I waited for my vegetable wrap was Depeche Mode's "See You," from their underappreciated (IMO) 1982 album A Broken Frame. For those of you who don't know I am a Depeche Mode FREAK of the highest order. They are my most favoritest ( Read more... )

Ha! That took me back. When I was in the Smiffenpoofs one of our regular songs was "Just Can't Get Enough". I think that's the only Depeche Mode song that I know! Or at least it's the only Depeche Mode song that I know I know. I'm sure I know other songs by them, I just don't realize that they sing them. It's like Queen - I loved "We Will Rock You" and "Bites the Dust" long before I had any clue who they were.

I am obsessed with DM as well. My first boyfriend and I used to make out to "I Want You Now" and "Behind the Wheel" and that was before I discovered all their older albums. They are the only band whose discography I owned as they recorded it, and I continue to love them fully and completely.

My college rooms my freshman and sophomore years were literally wallpapered with several huge posters of DM. I had quite a collection. Come to think of it, I know those posters are still around somewhere...

So you "just can't get enough" of Depeche Mode?

Okay, yeah, that was really bad of me. I thought Dave Gahon was so freaking cute back in the late '80s. I'll always be an XTC fangirl first and foremost, but I did my share of Depeche Mode love, for all that me and my friends called them "Depressed Mode."

Dave Gahan was so freaking cute

He was, until he turned into a stringy-haired greaseball junkie. I think he looked his best in the Music for the Masses-Violator years.
