Wicked-awesome thunderstorms last night!  Woke up up at 2am and had us up past three...which was fine with me because it's not like I'm working or anything, but Derek was grumpy.  Seriously, though...CRAZY awesome lightning and thunder action!  Strikes and cloud-to-cloud bolts almost every 5 seconds.  Western Washington just doesn't GET storms like

Totally awesome storms! Though, it made me a bit nervous when the lights kept flickering...not having power is less awesome...

Um...fireworks are totally not the same thing as lightning. Fireworks are created and detonated by humans, frequently irresponsibly, and result in FAR more injuries and casualties than lightning. Lightning is a natural part of weather and humans have limited control over whether or how lightning can strike. Are they both potentially very dangerous? Yes, of course. But I hate fireworks because they are so often in the hands of people who don't use them correctly.

Also, lightning did not almost burn down my grandparents' house, along with several of the neighbors', and fireworks did. Scariest experience of my life.
