snark bait

It's interesting to see the Democrats celebrate their slight edge in Congress. Some of them believe there's been some great change to the electorate. There has not been. The massive middle is tired of the GOP incompetence and wants to try the Democrat incompetence for a while. When they're annoyed with that, they'll switch back. Thin margins of ( Read more... )

Or as I said, if this is the biggest victory the Democrats can achieve given an unpopular war and a press subservient to the Democrats, then it shows most of all that America is now a naturally conservative country, temporarily pissed of with the way its conservatives are behaving, and to some extent brainwashed by the media.

Can anyone show me where to find a record of the election results for the House of Representatives (and also the Senate, which appears less of a clear indicator) ? Because the 'victory' of the Democrats looks from a British point of view to be 'just adequate'; but I would like to know how it compares with other previous victory margins.

You are so right about the narrow victory in a lot of cases.

I think you'll need to wait a bit longer on final results, as there are still some recounts, I think.

I was thinking about previous elections, particularly since 1945, by way of comparison with the current ones.

What is considered a 'good' majority in the House? How does this years' majority compare with typical majorities in previous years? That's the measure of it; this is the best the Dems can hope to do for some time, it seems to me.

Is their best good, amazing, or only just good enough? I suspect between 'only just good enough' and 'good', but that both parties have in times past had much larger majorities. What I'm short of is any means of finding out - though your answer hints that I am Right. Maybe I should be Mighty as well ;)
