Using a Bike for Public transport ?

Interesting Concept this.  Basically you sign up with the rental company and pay a minimum annual fee. Then after that they have loads of cycle stands all over the city. Whenever you need a ride, you just walk up to the nearest stand, go to the automatic machine (something like the parking ticket dispenser), enter your card, and enter the cycle ( Read more... )

with so many lazy bums like you around, nicest try this kind of a thing will work!

also there's the "social" angle to it - riding a cycle is not considered "respectable" or "prestigious" or whatever. so people won't use it.

Anyway yah, this thing wont work in India coz of social perception. But if the target segment is students ? Univ students and like ? then ? Even here you wont find people lugging their laptops around on bikes to work, its more for students and young people who take out their cars to go for small chores. Will it still not work in India ?

given the fact of the distance to travel in india, the weather, more importantly that travelling on cycles 'only' for students is not going to affect the chaos on roads.... and a coupla more such nuances .. it wont work.
