FROM CHAPTER 6:

“Oh my god! WHAT IS THIS?!”

Sungmin looked up to her and saw that she was holding the university’s newspaper. Her eyesight may be blurry but she could read well the headline.

“Living-in couples: Math Professor and Student Candidate for Musical”

Sungmin did not try to leave her bedroom for a week. Tiffany, who was her roommate, was worried and tried talk to her. Still, the little woman did not budge and tears flowed down her rosy cheeks. She had not eaten for three days. Even so, her meals before her so-called ‘hunger strike’ were not just as like as before.

“No, I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to come over,” Tiffany said over her cellphone. Sunny mouthed who was the caller, and Tiffany said it was Siwon. Sulli, who just came home from school, went towards Sungmin’s room.

“So, what should we do?” Sunny asked her, “You know, even if I was being rumoured like that around my school, I swear, I can’t go to school too.”

“But, Sungmin and Kyuhyun… They don’t do IT, right?”

“Yeah, ‘cause if they do, then we would hear them loud and clear, since Sulli’s room is just beside the guest room, and mine is adjacent to it. I doubt they’ve done it.”

“Well, I guess we have no choice but to help her.”

“But, don’t you feel triumphant? Like the heavens are siding on you, Fanny?”

“No,” Tiffany shook her head, “If I was going head-to-head with Sungmin, I want a fair battle. Ah, really now, if Siwon isn’t this in love with her.”

“Sunny-eonnie…” Sulli went downstairs, “I think, Sungmin wants to talk to you.”

Back at Megumu IHS, the dean was furious and demanded explanation from Kyuhyun. On the other hand, Kyuhyun doesn’t seem a bit nervous nor scared at whatever was happening. In fact, he was laughing his ass off with the other professors inside the teachers’ lounge.

“Oi, Cho, how do you explain this? Isn’t your job on the line here?” Boa asked as she raised the school’s newspaper. Kyuhyun just shook his head.

“If I did was wrong, why would my job be on the line?”

“Kyu,” Boa approached him and whispered to him, “you do know that this student had been absent for the past week, right?”

Kyuhyun looked at her. He may seem happy but, actually, tears were at the brink of his eyes.

“Boa-noona…” he was still smiling, but whispered sobbingly, “if I did was wrong, why should she be the one out of here?”

“Kyuhyun, you’re not making-”

“Why is she the only one at fault?”

“Aish, really, Kyuhyun, you should ask the EIC of the newspaper.”

“Who is that EIC anyway?”

“Aish, come,” Boa grabbed his hand and went to the newsroom of Megumu IHS, “you might be a little surprised, though.”

~o~

“Yes, yes, we’ll call you back. Oh, Professor Kwon, and wow, the controversial Professor Cho, how nice seeing you two here…”

“Cut the crap, Miss Jung. Where’s your EIC?” Boa asked.

“Scary, scary. Indeed like a snake,” said Krystal, who was the feature editor, and was on duty for the reception table, “Just go inside the second room at the left.”

“You shouldn’t be that strict to her. She doesn’t really-”

“Kyu, shut up, kids these days know better how they can kick teachers like you on the balls,” Boa said. She gestured the door and looked to Kyuhyun, “after you.”

Kyuhyun opened the door and was taken aback when he saw who the EIC was. He never reads the school newspaper so he didn’t really have any idea who he or she was. Well, at least, he knows it’s a she.

“You-”

“So, Prof. Cho, are you still going to fail me in Math?”

“Song Qian… Victoria Song.”

“Sungmin,” Sulli said, going upstairs to the former’s bedroom, “Sungmin! Look!”

Sungmin looked up and saw a newspaper. Their school’s newspaper.

“What is it?”

“Your issue, it’s cleared!”

Sungmin then grabbed the newspaper from Sulli and read,

“Following the story of Professor Cho Kyuhyun and student Lee Sungmin, an insider have cleared the rumors. The said insider is a student, whose reputation and dignity is sub sequentially on the line, broke his silence. “Professor Cho did came at Lee Sungmin’s apartment late that night. As for the rumor that they are in a relationship, I think that is not true. Professor Cho is actually visiting his friends who are Lee Sungmin’s housemates. If you go to her house, you would know that I am telling the truth. They had a few drinks and it is said that Professor Cho decided to sleep at their apartment.” The student added that Professor Cho left the house at four in the morning so that he can change for tomorrow’s class.”

Sungmin could not believe what she had read. Whoever made up the story, that student was her saviour.

“Does this mean I can go back to school?”

“Yeah, I think so, since everything is cleared.”

On the other hand, Sungmin was still in doubt. There are only a few persons who can actually make a story like this. She thought it was Seohyun, who appeared to be as a man and also since her connections with the school’s property.

Even so, Sungmin thought of another person. But, this time, she only has 5% sureness. Siwon…

Nah, Sungmin thought, if he did said these things, he wouldn’t be saving Kyuhyun’s ass. The story revolved more around Kyuhyun. So, I don’t think so… right?

~o~

Everyone was happy and surprised that Sungmin was back. She was given a warm welcome inside their classroom, and even the teachers, did not hesitated to give her hugs and kisses. She was happy and finally calm, and thought that she had been only blackmailed by someone. Kyuhyun smiled to her and went outside.

“Now, that I did what you asked, can you do what I told you to do?”

“Well,” Kyuhyun walked towards the person, “I know it’s not easy but can I ask one more week? Since she was gone for a week, and all, so, can I?”

“Aish,” Siwon sighed, “I guess that’s fine since I will have her forever, right?”

“You did a great job in handling Victoria. I thank you for that.”

“It’s not that much, Cho,” Siwon patted Kyuhyun’s left shoulder, “after all, I did that for her.”
