WOMAN, the feeling is mutual! You know how I feel about your writing! The Escalator started something, you don't even know. I got "Bound Together"for Christmas. And like ten pages in I got like a twitch to read some fanfic. I think yours was like third or forth one I read (the first two were super short) and I was alsmot not going to read it becuase it was AU and (all I really wanted was some Libertines fluff on paper in writing so I could see it!) But then I did, and I think I read it in one night I'm pretty sure.
And now I'm here, replying to comments. And all I was going to do it read one fanfic on lj and lurk, becuase it was the easiest resource.
Bound Together is quite the wonderful and heart-breaking read, innit? I really love some passages in that book. Oh, and the pictures are not bad either!
haha, but we've got you now! :P I'm SO HAPPY I got you not only to de-lurk, but even to create and share your awesome art in this fandom. Yay! See, when I started writing The Escalator, I wasn't on LJ, I wasn't in fandom (although I was an obsessive fan), I didn't know what fanfic was and that there were actual communities dedicated to it! That I started posting/reading at all, happened more or less by chance (or fate). ;)
I think most people are drawn to RL fic before they turn to AU. It seems like a natural progression. Maybe that's why TE is stuck somewhere in-between RL and AU. At least, that's where I see it.
