I know poetry, and that was definitely good. :) Voted for you four times (sometimes having multiple emails because of school is a good thing!), so I hope you get it!
Don't feel old just yet. Wait until you make a joke/reference that everybody would have gotten in your youth, but now most just stare at you without a clue. THEN you may feel old.
(My "old" moment was when nobody in O.Chem lab got my "turn it up to 11" joke. -_-;;;)
Really? I don't know much about poetry (even though I wrote a lot of it back in junior high), so I was just hoping to write something passable. I'm glad it's acceptable!
Also... I've made many jokes that have gone over the heads of the younger generation. So... yeah, it's caught up to me.
I voted for you; I'm not the best judge of anything poetic but I really liked yours :)
And I really like your courage to go back to school. I am facing that same dilemma and I'm um.. older than you and about to have a birthday in October. I'm on a fence. I'm not sure what to do. Like you, the loan situation scares the hell outta me but I'm not seeing as I have a lot of wiggle room. Newly divorced with no support from an addict husband, and pushing 50 but still have bills to pay and a 15 year old to support. It's all I can do to keep off the government gravy train but that's getting harder with every trip to the grocery store and every electric bill so... I feel ya, and I'm having a hard time with this decision.
*raises glass* (of tea coz I'm not a drinker: that was my soon-to-be ex-husband's failing and it will not be mine) Cheers to you and the future, whatever road you take. Just make sure it includes loads of yummy Kirk/Mccoy fic ;) THAT! I am gleefully addicted to
I'm glad you liked mine. I know I'm not much of a poet, but I do understand the basic concepts behind haiku. A lot of entries didn't even make the 5-7-5 structure, and didn't seem to grasp the sorts of concepts and methods of revealing those concepts that people are supposed to use in haiku. I don't think mine is brilliant, but I at least tried to meet the basic requirements.
I can totally see why going back to school scares you. It's scaring ME, mostly because I'm afraid of going broke. But I WANT this. I'm determined to make it work. That means it WILL work, one way or another.
