You know what I love about Harry Potter? Well, among many other things that is, the fact that it's a coming of age type of story that, for all intents and purposes, is set in a high school of sorts and it features heaps of teenage angst of every kind you can possibly imagine, AND YET it's not about the high school-level teenage angst at all, it's not about he loves me he loves not, it's about growing up and being human, it's about flawed, wonderful character that never stop being flawed and wonderful, they never become the perfect epitome of anything (other than possibly hormonal teenagers), they are always, first and foremost, human creatures saddled with all that entails. And the high school setting is simply the transition place, the bridge between childhood and adulthood, it never becomes the ideal to uphold and cling to lest we lose that precious, shiny dream of perfection, it's a mere prop/plot device if you will.

I agree. I do not get why girls are so drawn to Bella. She's one of the worst written characters i have ever seen. Her happiness (if she has any??) revolves around Edward and has no self-worth. I think what tipped me over the edge was in the second movie/book(?) the scene where the camera revolves around her and for three seasons she's sat emo at the window waiting for his return. How is this a healthy character for kids to look up to? Creepy.

hahah I'm not a fan of how INSANE it's gotten. I never gave the book a chance. Watched the first movie and almost cried at how bad it was.
