I'm getting lazy about posting here and even checking LJ, which is not a great thing because limiting my posting to Twitter and Facebook tends to limit me to writing one sentence comments on G&M stories and the like. A few comments about this and that

The Flanagan story is only weird in theory. In practice, the right wing - and maybe especially the libertarian (as opposed to Christian) extreme of the right - is absolutely loaded with such contradictions. The problem is that their rhetoric (for liberty, democracy, capitalism) bears almost no relation to the reality of their policies, which all lead to repression, oligarchy and monopoly.

It reminds me very much of the "pro-life" Christians who also lust after a return to public hangings.

I'm not going to wade into the whole Flanagan thing other than to say his comments are exactly in line with how US courts have ruled on the matter. Producing child porn is a crime, yes, but viewing the product shouldn't warrant a jail sentence.

And yes, you should post more here.
