Trayvon Martin case

I'm not sure if the jury, the crazy legislation, the prosecution or some combination is responsible for the travesty that is the Trayvon Martin case. If it's just the legislation, I wonder if George Zimmerman is going to be able to rest easy knowing that he now lives in a place where armed men may confront people in the street, armed or unarmed, ( Read more... )

It's definitely a perfect storm of injustice. A 6 person jury with only one person of color was not enough. The prosecution was all smiles when announcing their failure. The legislation is ridiculous and has been used by police and judges inconsistently implying racism.

The thing that gets me is that, even according to the defense's case, Trayvon wouldn't have been killed if Zimmerman hadn't gotten out of the car - even if he honestly believes it was self defense and there was no other way things could have happened, he doesn't seem at all bothered about killing a person. He seems like a pretty happy guy actually. He just got his picture taken while on tour of the factory that made the gun that shot Trayvon Martin through the heart. Zimmerman has a huge smile and is shaking the hand of the son of the owner of the gun manufacturer. Living the dream.
