Breaking Down the Dawn: PART ONE

Aug 03, 2008 16:56

Here's the first part of my thoughts essay on Breaking Dawn. I had to divide it into two parts because it was becoming really long, but I worked very very hard on it, and I think it's interesting. I don't have many negative thoughts and opinions...but I don't adore everything either. Please read it. I'll post Part Two soon!

okay... so, part one: i agree, totally cheesy, but i loved it. Jane Austen and Stephenie Meyer are totally allowed to get away with that level of cheese. makes me want nachos. i like cheese.
i did a total WTF when bella discovered she was prego, loved the moment when Edward went into shock -- "Um, Carlisle, can vampires go into shock?" Priceless. really wish we knew what the woman was saying.
part two: i agree on everything except the rosalie bit. i don't think rosalie ever truly hated bella. she was jealous of bella, and naturally, bella was nervous. bella's bias as a normal, average, teenage girl was that the tall beautiful blonde wanted nothing to do with her. it's really that rosalie doesn't want to have to cope with bella and bella's decisions. rose made her opinions and her person fully known in eclipse. she just doesn't want bella to be stupid and give up on life. when bella starts to become family, rosalie can't hate bella, especially since her hubby loves the little blusher ( ... )

That conversation sounds just about right. But I just think that Rosalie's intentions were entirely selfish. And yeah, Jake + Nessie= BARF.

But the ending was epic. Amazing. I'll probably write about it when I finish Part Two of this review :D

oi, I know, the moment that Edward hears the baby was so heartbreaking. I hated the stupid fucking baby, but it was such a sweet EB moment, but at the same time you're in Jacob's head and all you can think is how bad you feel for him.

& the "delivery" scene was unquestionably the best one in all of the first and second books and probably one of the top 5 overall... (there were so many good ones in the last book that.. it's hard to say..)

Yep, I'd never found myself caring for Jacob until then.

well, I had cared about him before that.. I was pretty much always your version of Team Switzerland - EB otp for sure, but I did want Jacob to be happy.. somehow.. not with Bella...

omfg. i was like all "lalalala" in the beginning of book1, thinking its kinda like a fluffy soppy fanfic, then BAM. Pregnant? Umm.. i seriously thought Meyer would never go anywhere near there. It was very WOAHHH! Aishh, freaked me out.
