Updating at 1 in the AM, how unusual of me. LOL.

1,830 words short but nonetheless, it's an update, right? :D :D I'm leaving for two days and I want to update before I leave so here it is.

Anyways, I read on twitter that Oh-chan and Aiba-chan's drama are now confirmed? *dances around in glee* Finally something new for Oh-chan and Aiba!! The Aiba-chan drama is very NazoDi-poi, isn't it? Minus the butler, of course. :p And his character's name is Katayama, how's that? :D

Anyways, this is unbeta-ed so tell me if there are any errors and mistakes. Comments, reactions, suggestions and criticisms are gladly welcomed. Happy reading!! :)

Chapter Fifteen: Wishing it's a Dream

At least once in every girl’s life, they have dreamt to be a princess, have a big and beautiful castle and live happily ever after with her prince charming. But for someone who is destined to have such magnificent life, she never wanted any of it all.

Princess Sayumi, the youngest daughter of the Crown Prince of Japan, isn’t as celebrated as her sister and her cousins. Her last public appearance is when she was only ten years old when her family migrated abroad and the entire nation hasn’t seen her since then, she never set foot in her country again.

She only dreamt of one thing, and that is to live a normal life. A dream that’s hard to achieve for someone like her.

You can never be normal when you’re a Princess.

“The media wanted you to speak, Princess.” Kiyomizu, the family’s butler and her father’s right hand, informed her. “Since your arrival this morning, they can’t stop talking about you. The imperial household is doing what they can to move the attention away from you.”

“They shouldn’t be talking about me.” She said in a cold voice. “My mother just died and my father is critical and all they care about is fabricating groundless gossips about me?” She turned her sight from the view of the estate’s garden in the second floor study room to him and her eyes, even though it looks tired from all the crying, are piercing cold too like her voice. “And didn’t my sister and my grandfather already ask for privacy? What do these people still want from me?”

“Princess, you’ve been gone for eleven years, the people are eager for your return.” Kiyomizu remained calm amidst the rather cold treatment from the young Princess.

“Well, people can’t always get what they want. I will not appear in front of them.” She boldly stated as she walks pass him to the door. “I would like to seat beside my sister in the wake, please tell whoever’s organizing it. I will rest for a while before we go to the temple.”

“But Princess, your sister can’t seat beside you.” Kiyomizu cautiously told her. “Perhaps, you’ll be seating beside their Majesties Emperor and Empress.”

“Why is that? My sister also lost her mother, am I right, Kiyomizu?”

“Certainly, that’s true, Princess, but your sister is not part of the Imperial family anymore-”

Kiyomizu stopped when he saw her narrowing her eyes at him.

“Maybe according to some stupid law, my sister is not part of the family anymore but right now, she’s the only family I have. I want her by my side on our mother’s wake.” She made herself clear before she exit the room, leaving Kiyomizu momentarily still in his spot.

She went back to her room and collapse into the bed. Her bedroom never changed a bit since she left eleven years ago. Her mother kept it clean daily as if someone is using it, in hope that one day, her daughter will eventually come home and use it. But she will never see that day anymore, for she’s already gone.

Princess Sayumi closes her eyes as tears started streaming down her face. She has always been weak on this kind of things. She hates it when someone close to her gets sick, she hates it whenever she have to visit them in the hospital and absolutely hates it when someone dies. She remembered when she was seven years old and her father’s grandmother fell ill, she doesn’t like visiting her in her room because she felt sad seeing someone in so much pain. Eventually, she died and Princess Sayumi, at such young age, refused to join the entire family in mourning but instead, she chooses to stay in this very room, playing dolls with her governess.

Just this morning, she refuses to see her mother’s body before they sealed her in a coffin. She’d rather not see her mother for the last time than see her in that state, cold and lifeless.

Visiting her father in the hospital is no better. He is filled with bruises, a bandage is rolled around his head and all these tubes are connected to him. She breaks down in tears seconds after she saw him. No matter how much she pleads and asks him to wake up, he can’t wake up and he wouldn’t answer her either. He is in coma and to add up to their worries, they don’t have any idea if he’ll be able to wake up any sooner.

Her parents have always been her inspiration and motivation in life. They are the reason why she strives hard to be the best that she can be so that she can make them proud. But just like that, the tragic accident takes them away.

She felt her world crumbling when she finds out that her mother died, she felt a part of her dying along with her. Her mother is her role model, she may not be perfect and she may show signs of weakness but to be able to leave a simple life to join a complicated family where you’re face with a tremendous amount of pressure is enough for her to admire her mother’s courage.

Princess Sayumi immediately wipe off her tears when she heard a soft knock on the door, her sister appear from behind.

“I heard what you ask Kiyomizu to do.” Her sister, Satsuki, told her as she sits at the edge of her bed. “Yumi, you know that I’m not a member of the family anymore, I’m fine with being seated a few rows from you.”

“As a member of the family, I have the power to instruct them whatever I want and I just did. You’re going to seat beside me, Nee-chan. You’re also going to ride the car with me on the way to the temple.” Sayumi firmly said as she sat up on the bed. “I know that you want to. We’re sisters and in times like this, we need to stay by each other’s side.”

----------

The news crew of every television channel in the country and even some international ones are all gathered in the entrance of Gokukuji Temple in central Tokyo. Everyone’s awaiting the arrival of the remains of their late Crown Princess and of course, the Royal family and their recent subject of interest, Princess Sayumi.

In recent years, the Japanese people are getting more and more fascinated in their Royals, they are slowly becoming celebrity-like at how the media and the citizens seems to talk and gossip about them.

With the arrival of Princess Sayumi, eleven years after she migrated abroad, the people have a new person to gossip about, if the accident isn’t much of a news to talk about. They have always been curious at how the Princess was able to keep her life abroad remarkably private, not a single news about her was heard in those years, they don’t even know how she looks like until she arrived.

“I heard the Princess is quite a stunner.” Tanaka, the cameraman, grinningly informs him as Sho studies his research materials. “Suddenly, attention’s on her.”

Sho just smiled. “You know those paparazzi earn a living in meddling in other people’s lives. We’re not here for the appearance of the estranged Princess, we’re here to report about the passing of our Crown Princess.”

He felt sorry for the sudden attention shift to the Princess, she lost a mother and yet people are reporting about her. He doesn’t know everything but according to what Tanaka has told him, the paparazzi are saying that she selfishly abandoned the Royal family to be independent and live a life without restrictions, so much for creating baseless rumors.

The noise outside the temple grew louder as the convoy of the Royal family has arrived as the flock of people gave way for the arriving cars. Sho and Tanaka are situated perfectly near the drop off spot for the family.

“Is it always like this?” Sho asked Tanaka. “I have this impression that the Imperial Household Agency is always orderly when it comes to these things. I might be wrong.”

“No.” Tanaka answered behind his camera. “They can’t control the people since last night in the hospital. Honestly, it’s the first time it ever happened.”

The chauffer of the first car stopped just in front of them and the Emperor and Empress come out of it. They paused for a brief moment to look at the crowd ahead of them before heading inside the temple. On the car behind, the first to come out is Satsuki, she didn’t bother to look around nor to stop as she walks straight inside.

A woman wearing an all black long-sleeved dress came out on the same car as Satsuki as flashes of camera started blinding her. She’s not wearing any make up nor is she hiding her bare face with huge sunglasses. Her hair is tied in a low bun, she’s pale and her lips is almost as paper as paper. When she turned around, a cold stare welcomes the spectators as they enthusiastically flash their cameras to their hearts content. It’s the second time today that they have seen the Princess and this is only the start of the many appearances to come.

Sakurai Sho dropped all the papers he’s holding as he stares blankly to the girl that caught everyone’s attention, not minding the brutal elbowing and shoving of the people behind.  His heart race a thousand times than normal and his hands is shaking that he can’t even have any control of it.

“Sophie?” His voice is buried into the noise.

He wishes that this is just a dream or maybe just a hallucination. Just let it be anything but real.

“Sho-kun!!!” Someone behind held him in the shoulders and turns him to his direction. Jun and Nino appears in front of him.

Three members of the super popular group Arashi are present in this crowded place yet miraculously, no one seems to notice.

“We’ve been calling you but it seems like you can’t hear us.” Nino tried to make it as casual as possible.

“Sho-kun?” Jun said after seeing that Sho is staring blankly no one knows where.

“What’s wrong, Sho-chan?” Nino puts a hand on his shoulder and he finally got into his senses.

They both know he saw her seeing his reaction and they blame their selves for being a few minutes late to stop it.

“Whatever is it that you’re here for, it can wait. I have to go somewhere.” Sho announces and rushes off into the side of the temple to another entrance in the back. With the tight security in the main entrance, there’s no way he can enter without making a scene.

Without hesitation, Jun and Nino runs after him knowing precisely that everything is not going well according to their plan.
