While their tallest member busy himself with his ‘hyungs’, their leader had always watch him. First in jealousy of how it was easy for him to communicate, then adoration of how he shows his affection, then it becomes something deeper. Love. Then finally hurt, because they’re impossible now.
Jinki watches Taemin gallop his way to Minho, smiling goofily and clinging to him, arms to shoulders and legs to the other’s hips. It was a scene very familiar to him and to some. That dream team day. Jinki remembered he used to like that, play it back again in again on the television to piss both or tease them for blushing and not trying to talk to each other after two days till, like today, that kind of thing became their normal greeting to each other. Sweet to them and painful for him.
Jinki winces at the sight of Minho cradling their magnae tighter, his head nuzzling on his neck. He also sees Taemin’s not so childish but definitely heartfelt smile on his face.
They’re together, Key smiled as he told Jinki about the two’s definite development. Minho told me, Jonghyun popped out on the other side to where Jinki sat. After yesterday, I don’t think it would still be a secret, , Jinki spoke bitterly but never sounded like that, while the two nodded missing how glassy their leader’s eyes became as they unconsciously add salt to his wound. Maybe not even just salt but chilies too explain the inferno inside his chest.
It was after their fan event when it happened. The day Jinki thought he made the most of what his relationship with Minho. He remembers how they hug on stage but just realize the fact that all that was just one of his (never to Jinki) fan-service. The truth was the two before him that night. Taemin flailed on his way to the doorstep, laughing and teasing Minho for not being able to hug him or not hugging Minho on stage. Somehow their tall member snapped and got Taemin off his feet, flailing more to break free from him but with no effort, Jinki thought, since he definitely enjoys what Minho was doing. The tallest member took the magnae inside the room and make noises that Jinki wished that someone had shot him in the head instead and end his misery, not to feel stabs because that kind of death was painstakingly slow.
The sound started with little rumbles, things sounding like it hit something, and then their magnae’s soft moans echoed down the hallway and clears what’s happening behind that door. It freezes him, Jonghyun and Key in surprise but after awhile they decided to not mind it and announce that whatever the two will be, they’ll accept it. Not asking Jinki’s opinion if he agrees or even bothering to look at his expression at all. They didn’t see how he looked like his soul had left his body, his usual soft brown orbs turning dark and empty, lost and full of sadness as he decided quietly to just ignore everything and let his exhaustion take over him.
That night, while the two members watch and tries to over power Taemin’s moans and Minho’s grunts with the television till they didn’t notice the sound died already and one of those two noisy members had stood behind their couch, eying something that was definitely missing in the picture.
Where’s Jinki-hyung? Minho asked softly, yawning from exhaustion to whatever they did inside that room, the two didn’t bother asking and only answers his question. Maybe he’s asleep, Jonghyun said tiredly while lazily changing the channels nonchalantly that Key snatched it from him and gave him a deathly scowl that had him storming to the kitchen, saying he was thirsty and he has to pee.
Minho went to check the room instantly not noticing how Key looked at him confusingly after he unconsciously ignored the diva’s question of why he needed to see the leader and his offer he would help him instead.
He burned his gaze down to the lump on the bed where he expected the leader, in his definite sleeping position. Jinki, he whispers the other's name shakily, eyes gazing down their leader’s delicate features as he was curled up in a ball, looking as young as ever but never that young enough to him.
Minho bit his lips as the leader shifted close to him, almost close to his quivering lips that if he moved just a centimeter forward he’ll be doing something he definitely wanted but most definitely couldn’t.
Minho had always watched the leader before unconsciously liking him secretly as time passed. No one knew except he and himself. It doesn’t bother him before since it was only admiration and nothing more which would be very much fine if ithat nothing more didn't turn into something more. He likes his voice, his bright smile, contagious laugh, body gags, cold jokes, small hands, warm hugs, him.
Minho brushed Jinki’s locks with his index finger then pinched the end of the strands, frustration curling and firing inside him.
Jinki was innocent, pure, soft hearted, a true friend, trustworthy, lovable and cares for everyone. Jinki sees everyone as a friend and they are friends, definitely friends but nothing but friends. He could still remember how they stumbled on each other before they got together as a group, during trainee days. His face was not as charming, almost cold but has a strange innocent aura to it. Jonghyun introduced them with each other, just when Kibum and Jinki had gone close with Taemin. They talk awkwardly till it grew lighter and lighter, Minho finding it easy and concluding he isn’t a cold person but an opposite of that. Despite of him being the most reserve member of the group Jinki had broke into that not in the way the diva of the group does it. No force but mere smile took Minho in and welcomed him.
They’re closeness was out of the question because he wasn’t only like that to him. Jinki had seen his friends equally and Minho was the most frustrated of it because he thought he knew more, talked more with Jinki since among the members they were the busiest and they were the ones who take their schedules together and had it packed like SHINee isn’t a five member group.
But that isn’t the issue there; it was just a part of it. A day where Minho’s pent up anger shattered everything and made things the most impossible and complicated was during their come back and the rest of the days, up to present. Joon getting on the scene of all this. During one of their awarding ceremonies, Jinki mentioned Joon and Joon did the same thing while they were in Singapore. Netizen said they dated too. A friendly date but it didn't change the fact it killed Minho from within but he let it slide after two days of trying to separate himself with Jinki, ignoring and all that. Then the real doom came in a form of something he wants to treasure in his memory. He thought Jinki felt the same thing with him on their birthday where they hug. A hug they definitely didn’t do with their friends. Jinki’s arms surrounded his neck while his were on his waist for more than five minutes till the member stormed in out of the dark room where they plan to surprise the two but ended up being surprised instead. Jinki was first to laugh and said GOT YA! feverishly, slapping Minho’s shoulder whom he didn’t notice froze on his spot. While he thought it was true, Jinki didn’t. That slap on the shoulder was nothing with what he felt was an invisible punch on the face.
Revenge came in the form of their magnae, Taemin who had slipped the words, I like you when he was out to drink in his misery. Despite being a minor their magnae drank with him when Minho insisted he was there and he has to drink some too. The magnae’s thought got hazy and confession came in and woke up something inside Minho till alcohol got to him too and had him kissing the lights out of the magnae. After that he find out he was into a relationship from drinking.
He never got to explain it to Taemin after seeing how chirpy he was than ever and how he shows his affection towards him, shyly but with bits of excitement. It was too late to take things back and hurt him after what happened to them that night. Heat came and he did things they shouldn’t. It was too late when Jinki came that day, telling him I like you Minho.
I’m sorry, he says for the millionth time whenever Jinki was nowhere there, mentally. Sleeping in his dream of who knows what, Minho would never know anymore because when he broke his heart everything they were before vanished and buried six feet under, unreachable and impossible to heal. Not that Jinki says it, but when Jinki cried in front of him, that’s the day Minho assumed everything they are now are counterfeit. Fake handshake, fake smiles, fake hugs, fake laughs, and fake friendship, that’s all they were now.
The only thing that wasn’t false was hurt, pain and anguish Almost death-defying feeling everyday when he sees what he wanted to be his with other people much deserving for his care, his laughter, his warmth.
Tears fell again this time waking up Jinki, eyes plastered to his huge orbs that still clouded with I’m sorry-s.
Night Minho, he only says before turning his back on him like how Minho felt he did to Jinki only literally.
Night Jinki, he replies in a whisper with his hand shivering as he tried to grab the leader’s shoulder, hold him tightly, let his smell fill him and warm him like before. But who was he to him now?
He never knew, just like when he left that room, he never heard his sobs, his own pain, his own longing. Jinki clenched the blanket hard, watching the door close and like always Minho never looked back. He never faced Jinki and never told him things he deserves to hear all this time. He removed every right to face the leader and talk to him about what he felt not thinking Jinki only wants to hear him say his apologies, if he actually loved him like he did even if they can’t be what they wanted to be anymore.
Jinki waits and Minho was waiting too, both were too stubborn to take the first move. Not realizing that it would be futile when both of them are doing the same thing, feeling the same thing, and wanting the same thing but have their foolish pride of deserving to be the first to see the other in front of them, admit he was wrong and stupid or tell him how much he still wants him and he doesn’t care what happened next and only cares for him to come back.
They’re Fools not realizing that not all actions speak louder than words.

A.N./s : -dies at a corner- wrote this after I watched My school(not sure if that’s the exact show)when Simon D mentioned that Minho told him among the SHINee members Onew was the least he liked. :’( and Jinki said he knows. -----although I don’t actually know if it was the truth*dun wanna believe pssh* since it was meant for Jinki to say the word on his head -Chongmal (nor really sure if it was that) so the other team can eliminated at that game. =un-beta edited=
