the E word

i really don't know what's wrong with me, but there's something about the word engaged that makes me feel uncomfortable. josh is the one, i KNOW it. like if we were speaking french, it would be je sais and not je connais because i know it with my heart and my brain and my whole body. it's not like i know of it, like i saw it on tv or read about it ( Read more... )

Seems to me that if you know when you're going to have the wedding, and you know when you need to start planning the wedding for it to happen on that date, then you say you're engaged when you start planning (like making reservations buying a dress or whatnot) for the wedding.

Think of it this way - you know you're going to get married and the engagement is saying "oh yeah, and it's in the works too"

BTW - you're not the only one who thinks the engagement thing is kind of kooky.
