[In light of certain questionable polls she was made privy to, Nami feels that a balance needs to be righted. Honestly? She doesn't much care about the answers. She just wants to have fun. |D]

[The logical response gets Robert's attention.]

The word "hot", when used in this context, is a colloquialism that means "physically, romantically or erotically attractive to the viewer". In short, it implies that the one designated as such is somebody that the speaker might be willing to pursue romantic and/or erotic relationships with, due to this percieved attractiveness.

I gather you have little knowledge of contemporary colloquialisms?

...Understood. Updating database. [No, really, she's going to be doing exactly that. That's... a surprisingly useful explanation.

After a brief pause, she adds-]

Negative. Current data on contemporary colloquialisms is minimal. [It's literally just what she's picked up during her stay here, which... isn't much. It's not all that surprising - slang isn't exactly necessary for someone like her to function, so of course she wouldn't know about it beyond what she's heard from others.]

Then it is thoroughly understandable that you would have little knowledge of them. To be frank, there is not much that I know of them myself; such language is often too crude for my liking regardless.

[This is probably the first person who prefers speaking to Murakumo Mode Nu. The robotic, toneless voice is strangely soothing, there's no guesswork involved on the emotions, and it reminds him a lot of the automated voices on many of the devices at home - though those tend to be enunciated more naturally. But he'll take what he can get.]

Are you perhaps a non-flesh being, or an artificial intelligence? I don't think that we have met before.

[Non-flesh being...? Hey, she's made of flesh and blood, thank you very much.]

...Negative. Existence description... Dimensional boundary contact prime force number 13 Anti-Sankishin core unit, Nu.

[Have some surprise over here.]

That is quite the unit title. Most impressive. Though... by "prime force", I suppose you are an... attacking unit? [Note of mild fear here, just because she might be possibly aggressive and he's a pacifist and all.] Though I assure you that I am hardly worthy of attacking, nor would I ever deign to cause harm to another.

I am Professor Robert Alexander Hastings, at your service. It is an honour to meet one with an intelligence such as yours, Nu.

[If she's bothered by the mild fear in his voice, it doesn't show at all.

On the other hand, it takes her a little while to respond - as if she were hesitating for some reason.]

Negative. Nu is... not an attacking unit. [Not primarily, at least. Her actual purpose is more defensive in nature than one might suspect, but it's not something she's likely to bring up to... well, anyone, more or less.]

[That's somewhat reassuring, and Robert's too dense to pick up on the hesitation.]

Then I believe we shall have no difficulties of any nature.

One with such logical thought processes as yourself is quite reassuring in a place such as this. [What with all the crazy stuff he's seen, Robert is looking for someone who might be a little more sympathetic to reason - or at least, his particular brand of it.]

Reassuring...? [That's... huh. Most people wouldn't say that - in fact, they'd probably be more likely to think the exact opposite, given that her speech seemes to unnerve some people.

...She's not really sure how to feel about this.]

[Is that a smile in Robert's voice?]

Yes, quite so. The two weeks or so that I have been here have been nothing but logical upset after logical upset for me. [And now he sounds a little... troubled.] Hence why a familiar thought process is a comfort.

[There's certainly not one in her voice, at least. In fact, she sounds as emotionless as always.]

...I see. [Nope. She's still not sure how to feel about this.]

[Robert doesn't expect anything else, of course. And this is nice for him.]

Regardless, I am glad to have provided some minor assistance for updating your database. [He's wondering where exactly she's keeping that database, now, because he wants his nanocomputer back and he's never even seen any databases in Luceti so far.]
